Virtual 5k campaign to thank and benefit essential workers!

2020.09.19 18:49 peasantofjollibee Virtual 5k campaign to thank and benefit essential workers!

Hi everyone, I am a member of Delta Psi working with Give Essential, a female-founded student nonprofit that provides essential items directly to the frontline. To date, our donors have pledged $1M+ in products to essential workers in all 50 states, we've grown our team to 200+ volunteers (majority female and students!) around the country, and we've been featured on People, Huffington Post, InStyle, and more. During a recent interview with Good Morning America for Labor Day, we launched a month-long fundraising campaign called LABOR MONTH to thank and support the frontline through the month of September and we'll be hosting a "Running for the Frontline" virtual 5K at the end of the campaign! We're looking to have more teams sign up for the run, and we're interested in having more Greek life organizations participate together! Here's a link to sign up for the run:
https://www.giveessential.org/run
We're trying to get enough traction to help us support even more essential workers, including healthcare workers like nurses in the near future.
Besides signing up for the virtual 5k campaign, though, if you know any essential workers, they can also check out our site get matched to free cleaning supplies, masks, personal hygiene products, feminine hygiene products, kids activities, and/or gift cards if needed. Thanks so much!

2020.09.15 02:46 Tacomaverick I’m considering transferring from Dartmouth to UVA. Anyone have any good knowledge on differences between the schools?

I’m a sophomore, I’d start at UVA this spring. CS major. I’m an athlete so getting over for the winter is no issue. I want to leave Dartmouth because I had a hard time socially there—didn’t love my team, and it felt like everything revolved around Greek life and drinking culture. My general questions about UVA:
How is the CS program regarded? How is the teaching? Are good internships generally attainable?
What is being an athlete at UVA like? (I’m guessing at a power 5 school it’s different than an ivy)
How is the social scene? Would I have a hard time making friends coming in as a sophomore? Would a sport take up too much of my time to make friends off my team? Do people generally have an ok time navigating dating and friendships without being big on drinking and partying? Also, do people date at UVA? (I’m a relationship guy)

2020.09.09 00:25 rayef3rw A Brief Look at How Covid-19 Impacts Current Annual Consecutive Game Streaks

I think the fact that this season will be a college football season like no other goes without saying. This year is a patchwork quilt of teams that are or aren't playing this fall (or something in-between), with many more games likely to be postponed or canceled due to ongoing Covid-19-related fallout.
Perhaps the only close comparison is the 1918 season, where the closing months of WWI sidelined many of the teams that had traditionally played college football, and the Spanish Flu sidelined the rest for varying periods of time.
Looking back through the history of college football, the World Wars (US involvement during 1917-1918 and 1941-1945) have been the two primary disruptors of the traditional yearly meetings between college football teams. I'll do a little more analysis later on in the post, but the vast majority of the existing consecutive game streaks in college football date to post-WWII, with only 27 currently-surviving consecutive match-ups dating to before 1941.
With that introduction, let's take a look at the longest-surviving uninterrupted match-ups in college football and which ones will be impacted this fall. As a quick aside, this of course all depends on how these records get counted going forward and whether a Spring 2020 season (if/when it happens) will be fully counted as the "2020" season, so I'll just add the caveat that these are uninterrupted fall meetings for now -- and assume that applies throughout.
Let me also preface this list by saying that while I tried to include all of the smaller FCS/DII conferences, I would be shocked if I didn't miss a few. If you notice any uninterrupted rivalry games missing from this list, please! -- let me know!

So, what does this all mean? I won't do a full re-hash of the chart, but I'll do some highlights and summaries of the important sections below.
As a side note, I kind of arbitrarily chose to end in 1972, but it has some justification that I'll get to later on. Really, though, it was mostly just because I felt like that was a decent stopping point.

Most Common Causes of Breaks Before Covid

So, what was the primary reason that most these consecutive game streaks last came to an end? And will it be beaten out by Covid, assuming Spring 2020 doesn't count/doesn't happen? I didn't do a fully exhaustive search (partly because some stuff was hard to find and partly because I got tired of looking, if we're being honest), but World War II ended the bulk of the streaks on this list, adding up to about 40 of the matches. The other factors aren't particularly close to matching that total, though World War I is probably the next closest, aside from generic scheduling conflicts/choosing not to schedule each other, with about 5 stoppages.
Other common factors included:
Other less common reasons for breaks that I found amusing included:

Implications

Discontinued Games

The teams and conferences that suffer the most from this are exactly who you'd expect it to be. The Ivy League, Big Ten, and Pac-12 are losing the most uninterrupted games, though the Patriot League, the SWAC, and the MAC are also losing some notable matches
By far the most notable game that will not be played this fall will be the LafayetteLafayette LehighLehigh match-up; it will be the first time in 123 years that the game won't be played in the fall. It was last forgone in 1896 due to a dispute over player eligibility; had it not been for that break in relations, The Rivalry would have dated back wholly uninterrupted to the two teams' first meeting in 1884, which would have been good for 136 consecutive years of playing.
The next oldest game not to be played this fall is the MinnesotaMinnesota WisconsinWisconsin game, followed by the ClemsonClemson South CarolinaSouth Carolina game, which has been played continuously since 1909, meaning the 2020 season will be the end of 3 of the longest-running continuous series in all of college football.
Finally, one game I hate to see go is the MorehouseMorehouse TuskegeeTuskegee match, which had previously been played continuously since 1936. I couldn't find a lot about the history of this series online very easily, but it's the longest-running HBCU match I could find. Several other historic HBCU rivalries ended temporarily fairly recently owing to the disbanding of Prairie View A&MPrairie View A&M for the 1990 football season.

Previously Unbroken Series

Unfortunately, Covid is putting an end to a few series which have previously met every year without interruption. Those matches include:

Non-Conference Games That Were Maintained

You've got to give a lot of credit to any ADs who managed to keep non-conference rivalry games going through all this. The only consecutive non-conference rivalry games that will survive undamaged are those belonging to three major service academies. Unfortunately, the Merchant MarinesMerchant Marine and the Coast GuardCoast Guard were not so fortunate, and have canceled their fall season.
The ArmyArmy, NavyNavy, and Air ForceAir Force managed to keep afloat their rivalries which have been played continuously since 1971/72 for the Air Force and since 1930 for the Army and Navy. This was possible only by the work of the Air Force, who, as of right now, will be playing only Army and Navy this fall, though the Mountain West Conference did recently announce a revised schedule which allows for 2 non-conference games, so this could change. Both ArmyArmy and NavyNavy are currently playing full schedules.
This was really the main reason I stopped making my list in 1972. That, and it lets me talk about the Textile Bowl (NC State vs Clemson). I'll discuss that in the following section.

Games Unlikely to Be Rescheduled

Though most of these games are intra-conference games that can be rescheduled in the Spring fairly easily, there are a few notable games that will almost certainly not be. Many of these games include teams who will both be playing this season, but will be playing in different conferences or unable to meet for other reasons. These games include:

Non-Conference Games Which Can (Probably) Be Rescheduled

While Conference games are possible to be scheduled fairly easily, there are a few non-conference games which will probably be resumed this Spring.

Closing

To answer that question I posed earlier (will Covid potentially impact more currently-consecutive football meetings than World War II), the answer is yes. While this is a bit disingenuous to say, since many otherwise-consecutive rivalry games impacted by World War II have stopped playing since the war for other reasons (looking at you, 2010-14 Conference Realignment), Covid will impact 66 otherwise-uninterrupted matches, while 32 will continue on. Of those 66 canceled matches, though, only the 9 listed above (under the are Unlikely to Be Rescheduled section) are, in my view, highly unlikely to be revived in the Spring, while the rest can continue on in the Spring if scheduling and Corona allow.
1 - I would like to find a more concise and formal source, but so far one has evaded me
2 - Several Minnesota-based athletic pages say that the cause was Teddy Roosevelt banning rivalry games in 1906; despite that, the only period explanation I've found for the break in the games was a June 1906 article about a ChicagoChicago MinnesotaMinnesota game scheduled for 1907, which said the 1906 match-up was prevented because "The big nine conference [Big 10 today], in forbidding games which established a western championship, did so on the ground that it brought about an unhealthy rivalry and stirred up improper spirit between the big educational institutions." Though the Big 9 could have chosen to do that because of threats by Roosevelt, the immediate cause was the conference's decision.
3 - Some sources disagree on this: At the time of their first athletic break, then-AD at BGSU said "Frankly, Toledo is too tough for us in football. We feel that we can no longer compete on even terms." However, there have also been references to players having "more trouble avoiding flying fists than avoiding blockers and tacklers" before the series was temporarily canceled as well. For a good write-up of the series, see here

2020.08.21 17:01 cuntymcfucktrumpet In August 2002, Rhonda Wilson "went for a walk" in Kentville, NS, and never returned. Her common-law husband didn't report her missing until three days later. No trace of Rhonda has ever been found.

On 10th August 2002, 31-year-old Rhonda Wilson was reported missing by her common-law husband, Albert Baird. According to Baird, Rhonda left their Kentville, NS home at 9.30pm on 7th August to go for a walk and never returned.
New Minas RCMP launched an investigation and although several people came forward to report they'd seen Rhonda after the time of her disappearance, none of these sightings could be verified.
Police searched for remains at a property on Black Hole Road in Sheffield Mills, a small rural community 10km away from Kentville. They found nothing. Tips continued to come in, but didn't lead to information that would allow law enforcement to make any arrests.
As the years passed with little progress in Rhonda's case, the RCMP decided to try the "Mr. Big" technique. This is an undercover investigation procedure used to encourage suspects in cold cases to confess.
Undercover agents build rapport with the suspect over a period of time then convince them to participate in criminal activity (such as delivering stolen goods or smuggling illegal weapons), which the suspect is paid for. Once the suspect has been carrying out crimes with the agents for some time, they're asked to divulge information about their criminal past, often as a requirement for being part of the group.
From the beginning, law enforcement suspected Baird was involved in Rhonda's disappearance. They conducted a Mr. Big sting and in May 2013 — nearly eleven years after the mother of three vanished — Baird was arrested in Dartmouth and charged with first-degree murder.
The preliminary inquiry was set for October 2014, but was postponed and rescheduled for January 2015. Then, in September 2014, the charges against Baird were dropped.
In July 2014, a ruling had come out from the Supreme Court which buckled down on the use of confessions elicited from "Mr. Big" stings. The Supreme Court didn't ban the use of the technique, but did declare that trial judges must evaluate evidence produced by "Mr. Big" operations more thoroughly — particularly the reliability of the confession and police conduct throughout the investigation.
Crown Robert Morrison stated that because of this, the prosecution no longer had a reasonable chance of convicting Baird. The charges were dismissed and Baird was released, having been in custody since his arrest in May 2013.
Rhonda's sister, Jenn Corbin, spoke with local media at the time and said:
"What they are doing is not taking away our rights. They are taking away Rhonda’s rights and that’s not fair to Rhonda. She didn’t deserve to have what happened to her. We waited so long to get a charge and we honestly didn’t think we’d ever get to that point."
Rhonda's case was added to Nova Scotia's major unresolved crimes program in 2010, meaning there is up to $150,000 available to people who come forward with information that results in an arrest and conviction.
It's been eighteen years since Rhonda vanished and no trace of her has ever been found.

2020.08.20 00:15 VanderVolted Will you give me any feedback on my 7th draft of my common app essay ????

I’m thinking thoughts. I’m sitting in my chair, at my desk. Each thought coming in like a car passing on an overpass. It’s time. I open up safari on my MacBook Pro. I go the search bar and type in “r”. Auto fill does it jobs and I’m taken to Applying2College. I’m home. And boy, isn’t it my lucky day. It’s shitpost Wednesday, where everyone who is cool posts a shitpost. I’ve had no ideas for the preveiojs two weeks. I’ve gotten no Karma, and not attention or respect and admiration of my peers. I’m filled with shame. I begin to create a new post. I’m thinking thoughts. Thought thoughts. Not about thots. I wish I had a thot, one that whispered sweet nothings into my ear and told me how cool the metaphors and rhetorical devices I choose for my essay are. They are. One day, she will. I’ve already got my hoodie and headband for Harvard and Yale, I’m applying to both Early, and am ready to wear both for the entirely of second semester when I get accepted into both. They won’t know if I don’t tell either that I’m applying to both. Just imagine, the girl from period 6 last year with her excellent, uh, personalities. She and a Harvard and Yale will both be mine if I can write this essay. How many words am I at. Darn, I’m not even halfway done. It’s time for a break. I go the kitchen to get a can of Hawaiian Punch. Aha. I had a grandfather on my mothers side that was part Hawaiian. I can put that on my apps. I can get in. I no longer have to beg to date Ms Perosnalties, she will be begging for me. I can smell her feet already. I finish my snacks, and pretend each Cheeto is a a toe on that maidens foot, and I am an ogre at a swamp. But alas, all my time had been spent with a plethora of activities and hobs that served to almost satisfy my thirst for knowledge. Tommorows a big day. I can go to cost co, and write a shitter essay than this if I want. I also have to do a lot of work at the non profit I started. I’m the founder, CEO ( Chief Execitive Officer) , and CFO ( Chief Fun Officer). The nonprofit is called “ Sco’s for Ho Bos”. I find homeless teens, tell them about my 1570 on the SAT, and charge them 20$ for the ability to gain digital access to my lesson plans, a complete guide on how to do well and get a perfect score on the SAT and ACT. I’m a good person. But that’s tomorrow. Have to go to bed first, but I can’t because I’m kept awake by thoughts. What is thinking. If there exists a 33oz container of Nutella do we really have free will? I rest easy and thus alas begin a gentle slumber. I’m at peace because I know, even in the little chance I don’t get in to Harvard and Yale, that I have Cornell and Dartmouth as safety schools. But that would be horrible. No one has even heard of those dang schools. That’s why I’m not applying. They’ll probably just send the acceptance anyway. After all, they’ve already sent me like THIRTY emails about how they want ME in particular. Like they went if their way to let me know, in a hand written email, that they wanted me. After all, I won the geo bee nationally as a middle schooler, and participated in many clubs like math club. I was even nominated as president of chess club. It really is great being me. My identity, you ask: Excellence. I serve as a ruler, to which all students compare themselves to. Accept me Harvard and Yale.

2020.08.17 15:21 cuntymcfucktrumpet 19-year-old Keya Simon was stabbed to death at a party in Dartmouth, NS, in 2011. A large group of witnesses including her sister (who was also injured) saw what happened, but nobody is coming forward.

At 11.20pm on Saturday 8th January 2011, Halifax Regional Police rushed to 117 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth, NS, after receiving a report of a stabbing at a party. Officers found 19-year-old Keya Knita Simon in the front lobby of her sister's apartment building — she had a single stab wound in her chest and was surrounded by a large crowd of people, most of whom would be uncooperative in the subsequent murder investigation.
Keya's 32-year-old sister, Tiesha Allison, had also been stabbed but her injuries were not life-threatening. Keya was pronounced dead at the scene.
A group of people who knew Keya and Tiesha had turned up at the party and a fight had broken out. The altercation escalated and continued on the front lawn of the residence, which is where the stabbings occurred.
For over three years, progress was slow in Keya's case, most likely because many witnesses were staying quiet from the outset. But in August 2014, two (then) 25-year-old men from Dartmouth were arrested. One was in Dartmouth at the time and the other was in Renous, NB.
Demarqus Beals was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Keya's killing and Carondo Downey was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for the attack on Tiesha.
The murder trial was plagued with issues before it even began. It was originally set for June 2016, but three days before it was due to start, Beals fired his lawyer. The court rescheduled it for January 2017 but those dates were lost because Beals hadn't hired a new lawyer and was "dragging his heels." Eventually, the trial was confirmed for May 2017.
A key witness, Walter Brooks — who faced his own charges in 2012 after police found him carrying an illegal handgun — couldn't be located weeks before he was due to appear in court. A Canada-wide warrant for witness was issued and Brooks was eventually found in Orangeville, ON, and returned to Halifax.
Another critical witness, Terrie-Lynn Atwood, ended up in hospital with life-threatening injuries shortly before the trial was due to start. A man she had been arguing with assaulted her then got into his car and deliberately ran her over. Police said the incident was not linked to Terrie-Lynn's intention to testify.
The trial finally commenced but in the early stages, the Crown decided to stay the charge because of a drastic change in Brooks' testimony that meant there would be no longer be a realistic prospect of conviction. Beals had pleaded not guilty and was released following the stay. The Crown had a year to resume the prosecution, but did not.
In January 2019, Beals was arrested in Moncton and charged with multiple crimes after he attempted to rob a man at knifepoint. In August 2019, he was arrested again in Halifax along with two other men and charged with attempted murder in connection to a downtown shooting.
Keya's mother, Torina Simon, has been vocal about how angry she is with everyone who knows something but isn't coming forward — especially Tiesha. She doesn't know either of the two men who were charged but does remember Keya talking about Demarqus before the party.
Next year marks the tenth anniversary of Keya's murder. As of 2017, Torina had not spoken about what happened to Keya with her son, who was just nine months old when his mother died. She said:
"His response would be, 'Why?' And I don't have no answer for that."

2020.08.13 17:37 cuntymcfucktrumpet In April 2017, the body of 27-year-old Laura Ross was found in a burned-out shed in East Hants, NS. A man was charged in connection with her murder, but the charges were dropped weeks before the trial was due to begin in early 2019. No further arrests have been made.

Shortly after 9.00am on Monday 3rd April 2017, first responders discovered the body of 27-year-old Laura Ross in a burned-out shed on her Highway 202 property in the rural community of South Rawdon, NS. Ross' two young children were rescued from the house next to the detached shed.
The subsequent investigation determined that the fire had been set intentionally and Ross' death was ruled a homicide.
Almost four months later on 26th July 2017, then 27-year-old Joshua Eric Crowell of Upper Sackville was arrested in connection with Ross' death. The next day, the RCMP charged him with second-degree murder, stating:
"Today’s charge is the direct result of the significant amount of time and resources dedicated to finding the person responsible for this tragic and untimely death. We do not anticipate any further arrests or charges."
Police revealed that Ross and Crowell "were known to one another" but wouldn't provide details about the nature of their relationship.
In August 2017, Crowell appeared in court with his defence lawyer, who told the judge he was awaiting disclosure from the Crown and needed time to prepare. A preliminary inquiry then took place in September 2018 at Shubenacadie Provincial Court and Crowell's four week trial was set to begin on 18th March 2019.
However, just weeks before the trial was due to start, the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service announced that it was withdrawing the charges against Crowell. A spokesperson said:
“As with every case, there is a continuous assessment. It became apparent there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction. As such, we are obligated to stop the prosecution.”
Less than two months after the charges against Crowell were dropped, Ross' case was added to Nova Scotia's major unsolved crimes program, which offers rewards of up to $150,000 to people who come forward with information that results in an arrest and conviction.
It has been over three years since Ross was murdered and no further arrests have been made.

2020.08.13 06:48 microwaved_popcorn COVID-19 Community Expectations or "liability waiver"

Hey all. Grad student here. Our grad school just received the Dartmouth College Community Expectations for Academic Year 2020-2021 that we are to sign before attending in-person classes this Fall. I'm just wondering what you all make of it? Have the undergraduate college students been asked to sign this yet (our start date for the Fall is before the undergrads)?
The "community expectations" are mostly precautions and standards that students have to adhere to, to "promote the safety and well-being of others on campus". However, this part seems like a liability waiver or an assumption of risk defense:
"By signing this Community Expectations agreement, I agree to abide by these rules and regulations. I acknowledge that Dartmouth College cannot eliminate my risk of illness during a global pandemic. I voluntarily accept the risks associated with on-campus study at this time."
It seems like by signing it students will "voluntarily" assume the risk of attending in-person mandatory classes (at least at our school) and waive the institution's liability? Any thoughts?

New enewsletter - Bells of City Hall, Paid Parking, Heritage, Coronavirus Update #35 + more

The historic bell sees the light of day for the first time in 40 years.

Hello all, back after a short but busy vacation. A lot to update you on.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, 2020, the municipality will begin a construction project at Halifax City Hall to reinstate two bells dating back to the mid-1800s to the early 1900s in the bell tower.
It is believed that either of these two bells were the original bells of the City Hall bell tower, prior to the Halifax Explosion. As a result of the Explosion, the bell tower was damaged, and the bells were removed and stored in a secure location with the intent to reinstate them in the future. These bells will replace the existing electronic chime system and will ring in two tones on the quarter-hour, half-hour and hour.
The idea of restoring these bells has been floating along since 1917. There is a report from the 1980s where Mayor Wallace was convinced that the larger bell would be installed sometime that year. A few years ago I learned the bells were in storage from one of HRM’s heritage staff, Kelli McIvor, while we were giving a tour of City Hall. I started to encourage staff to complete this work as the last bit of restoration of City Hall after the Halifax Explosion. It will be amazing to hear the bells ringing once more, for the first time in 103 years.
More info here: https://www.halifax.ca/recreation/arts-culture-heritage/city-hall-bells has been created with information about the bells and their history.
I did an interview for the podcast Future Fix about HRM’s slow streets program. I think it turned out pretty well. They said they loved how I addressed some of the shortfalls of a crowd-sourced digital tool (like hearing from the voices who are used to being heard) and how the city plans on navigating that. You can listen here: http://spacing.ca/national/2020/07/22/the-future-fix-safe-streets/
Larry Haiven wrote a great article about the many downfalls of our current heritage registration process. Some of the challenges HRM controls, many more the province controls. This needs to be an election issue provincially, or we will never get the act change to allow for a holding bylaw for potential registrations, or a no demolition period in a potential Heritage Conservation District. The municipality needs to change its' public hearing process for heritage registrations. https://www.thecoast.ca/halifax/landlords-getting-the-final-word-on-heritage-designation-wont-work/Content?oid=24591933
Many of you have emailed me about the changes coming in paid parking. Beginning last week staff have begun the removal of meters and installation of new paid parking signage and required signposts in Dartmouth. The project will start on the outer perimeters of paid parking on the peninsula and work its way inward toward the core. The purpose of this approach is twofold; to reduce the loss of revenue and to balance the needs of local businesses.
A lot of people have seen the parking zone maps and thought that meant all on-street parking was going to become pay parking, and that is not so! With a few exceptions of a few streets like Lower Water that have been waiting for paid parking for some time, only streets with meters will get the new system, any expansion is for the future on a case by case basis. Centre Plan Package B Public Engagement August 31, 2020 Package B is the part of Centre Plan that says what can be built in the neighborhoods full of wood-framed single-family homes and multi-units. It also talks about the industrial, park, institutional zones, but a huge issue will be “what is R1 and R2 going to change into?” So for many of you, this will be the change that says what your neighbors might be able to do for the foreseeable future. It is really important to get involved, especially as a homeowner.
Staff are launching a series of online surveys to gather feedback on the draft Centre Plan – Package B documents. The surveys can be accessed from the Centre Plan webpage at www.centreplan.ca. Any questions can be directed to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) or 311. The surveys will be open until August 31st.
Noise & Grade alteration bylaw review Online Survey Extended to August 31 HRM is considering modifications to Existing Municipal By-laws which could address quality of life issues that many of you have expressed to me over the last number of years. There are currently two surveys available on this page: Grade Alteration and Stormwater Management By-Law Online Survey and the Construction Noise Survey. Please take a moment to have your say. https://www.shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/by-law-changes
Halifax Regional Council – Public Hearing Regarding Secondary Suites Tuesday September 1, 2020 6pm and Thursday September 3, 2020 6pm if required Council will hold a public hearing regarding a by-law to allow secondary suites (backyard and granny suites) in all areas of HRM, subject to building and lot size among other controls. Events and News:

The library goes fine free! Halifax Regional Library Board passed a motion at its last meeting to permanently remove overdue fines. Effective August 5, 2020, all overdue fines and fees will be cleared and library cardholders will be able to borrow materials without risk of accruing overdue fines. The foundation of the public library is free and equitable service to all; however, we know that a library overdue fine can create a barrier to access. Removing this barrier gives everyone in our community lifelong access to the Library.

The support from you, your colleagues, and your constituents have made a real impact on the lives and the health of children and families in Nova Scotia. Family SOS wants to help you continue to build stronger families in Nova Scotia. As you know, one cruel paradox of COVID-19 is that the burdens for marginalized families and children have increased at the same time that the capacity for traditional fundraising strategies has shrunk. However, as the first winter with COVID approaches, we know it will be especially important for children to be able to play, learn, and spend time outside. We also know there will soon be an urgent demand for warm winter clothing for a great many families who have suffered increased economic hardship in the midst of COVID.
You can take action to ensure that resources are available to clothe children with warm winter coats, boots, hats, and mittens. Coronavirus Update #35 – Transit Update, Physical Distancing when running and scooting,

I really enjoyed my time off and made brief trips to the valley and the South Shore in between painting and renovating our house. We are all enjoying our new found freedom to move around, and it is more important than ever to follow public health directions, especially masks, hand washing, and self-isolation if coming in from the rest of Canada or outside Canada.
Not to be too much of a downer, but this column in the Guardian about what it is like in Melbourne, Australia after the second wave hit is very depressing. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/commentisfree/2020/aug/01/victorias-coronavirus-crisis-fear-hangs-over-melbourne-and-nothing-is-like-the-first-wave It outlines a state of being none of us want to experience, so let’s keep our guards up and work toward minimizing the spread if and when COVID is reintroduced into Nova Scotia.
Transit masks update I’ve had some folks ask why drivers are letting people on without masks, or not wearing masks themselves. Management shared this:
  • Consistent with public health direction we are not actively enforcing the usage of masks. Instead, we are taking the approach of education and providing free masks to as many people as we can to remove that barrier.
  • Operators are required to wear masks when onboard as per public health direction. If they have a medical reason for the exemption they may not be wearing one while driving.
How to wear a mask Speaking of masks, Public Health posted “People with anxiety may feel uncomfortable wearing a mask at first. Try a few different masks to find one you're comfortable with, and practice wearing it at home for short periods to get used to breathing normally in the mask” and posted a great graphic here: https://twitter.com/PublicHealthCZ/status/1293223487688052736/photo/1
Physical (social distancing) while running and scooting I have also had a number of people write about runners or people on scooters getting within 2 meters of them while using the sidewalk. Please remember that physical distancing rules apply, and it is really important to give people at lease 2 meters space, especially when breathing heavily from running, biking or manually scooting. I think it is also probably a good idea for people to avoid taking exercise in busy areas with narrow sidewalks like Spring Garden or Barrington.

2020.08.08 00:36 Decidingtransgender Not sure if I’m ready for HRT or if I’m really trans, I need help making a life long decision

I don’t know if I’m trans but I want to be a girl and there’s days I really want to and days I could really careless/ forget about it. I’m trying to decide if I should come out as a trans female and start HRT ( I already have an appointment scheduled for the 19th to speak with an endocrinologist) or accept the fact I was born a male and should live as one. I’m still undecided
for some background information on my life, I grew up in a fairly conservative part of rural California. As a kid I never felt uncomfortable as a boy, I never really thought about gender but I liked my stuffed animals and my little blankets I carried around as a kid but my parents eventually made me stop because they were afraid I would be bullied as a child. As I got older I just wanted to be by myself I hated doing everything my brothers did like sports hunting and fishing and all those other manly outdoor activities. I was very against it and I hated it. My parents eventually forced me to do those things and to play sports as well, and I mean year round. I cried a lot when I was a child but in middle school I made some really friends and it made it all better.
As I got to high school I started to really hate sports again. I didn’t like my body and wasn’t comfortable getting changed In front of others and I never got along with many guys on my team let alone my entire high school. All of them were being overly masculine and taking about girls and to me I always hated that and I hated trying to be masculine, and I thought it was boys just being hormonal boys to fit in with one another. I was pretty depressed in high school because i never got along with any guys my only friends were some nerdy girls but i never hung out with them a lot outside of school so I focused on academics. I graduated high school early and got into Dartmouth at a pretty young age so I was excited to leave and start my life.
As a college boy I partied hooked up with girls and even joined a frat, and I was content on being a guy but I never really liked it.
I’m kinda a man hater I think. I don’t like men and I don’t find them cute or handsome or attractive even myself. I hate my body hair and I even remember trying to shave all my legs when I was in high school. I still complain about my body hair all the time to my gf she’s always like calm down you’re not even hairy, and there’s a lot of times I look down on my appearances because I don’t like my skin or how I look. Nonetheless I have been content on being a guy but I never imagine myself as one. Like if I could live any life I would 100% just to be female. Even when Imagine myself in books/ my fantasies/ or my games I always think of my self as a girl. My friends actually always laughs at me because I only create girl characters when I play games. In my day to day life no one would ever question my gender based on how I act or dress. ( i am a skinner guy with Long hair so some people get confused for a second lol) but I wear dress pants and a button shirt everyday and I don’t mind it at all. I think it looks good and makes me look more professional, I love wearing girls shorts and underwear but never any tops or makeup because i think it looks bad since I have facial hair and no chest, and so I don’t dress like a girl even when by myself. I know I would if I was a girl but I’m not. And I say “if I was a girl” because I see gender as how someone looks. To me gender isn’t how I identify ( I do identify as more feminine ) but I act and look like a man so I say I am a man even if I go through hormones I would say I was a guy until I couldn’t pass as a guy and I started dressing and looking like a girl. I don’t see it as how you but more how you look like how your brain tries to recognize objects and place them into categories.
I have also been depressed a lot. When I was in high school though the biggest thing that kept me driving was that I wanted to find somebody I love and somebody I can wake up next to everyday and someone that makes me happy everyday, more or less I just wanted to live on the bliss of love and ride it for as long as I can, but it motivates me to keep going and to live my life until I can find the girl of my dreams. After a lot of depression and even some breakups were one ex got mad at me for being to feminine and not masculine enough for her and dating a few people I realized love is some thing important to me but it’s also hard to have an amazing relationship where you are never confident in your body and I just don’t think I ever can as a guy. I think I’m trans, but I’m not sure if I’m just a more feminine guy that wants to be girl occasionally and I’m not sure if going through the whole process of transitioning and not feeling like a belong to either gender is worth it. I don’t want it to feel like I don’t belong to either gender or feel like a “freak.” I just want to to live my life but it’s so so so hard for me to live as a girl. It’s a lot money, time, and ostracism that I’m not sure I want to go through. I think that I could live my life as a guy and be content. I have for 22 years already, and I’m positive I could live and be happy but I just might not ever be confident in myself or in my looks, but if I transitioned and everything went the way I think it will then I would happier being a cute girl and I’m sure my life would end up ridiculously different. I just am not sure if being the girl I want to be and having to take hormones for years after getting through all the doctors and therapists is worth it, to then have to learn how to speak more feminine and completely change my voice, buy an entirely new wardrobe (I will like it a lot but there’s so many girls clothes it’s hard) and makeup (I’m so bad at it). Hell the more I wrote this the more I realize I want to be a girl and I only want to be a guy because it’s easier to be but I’m just not sure if I am truely a trans women or not. For one I like girls and I love everything feminine about them. I hate guys and I hate most masculine things ( I say most not all because I like video games and wearing hoodies and having less drama then girls) and most trans like guys and don’t want to keep their dick and they have gender dsyphoria. For two my gender dsyphoria isn’t as bad as a lot of people and there is times I can see myself as a boy but I don’t like boyish things or looking like a guy with oily hairy skin and have facial hair is kinda ugly to me. For three when I was a child I wasn’t like’ “Yepp!! I’m a girl, give me all your dolls!!” These things bother me, because I want to be a girl over a boy but not so badly that I knew when the time I was born, or that I’m so girly I like guys, or that I kinda like my dick and girls. So I’m confused and just want any advice possible. As of now I’m doing a lot of research on the different effects of hormones and I have an appointment to see a doctor and I want to take hrt but I’m not sure if I am really trans or if I will ultimately be that much happier But I know if I don’t I will always wonder what if and If I don’t do It now I won’t ever because I will be 23 in like 6 months and I feel like once I’m Past this age I will never be able to look cute and girly so I should just stay as a boy :(

2020.08.08 00:33 Decidingtransgender Not sure if I’m trans and ready to transition what do you think?

2020.07.30 04:23 Alternative_Craft_35 How to write characters based on their brain structures.

Asperger's. The alleged mental illness of the STEM dork. First of all, repost to Aspergers. This essay will use the thesis antithesis synthesis pattern. Villains can be anything, but stereotypically, the Big Bad, and the Starscream, usually The Brute, have cluster B personality disorder. When cluster B personality disorder is genetically based, it's called psychopathy. I'm not sure how neurotypicals view Asperger's people, but I'm told it's distant and cold. (Aspergers) Asperger's people can come off like jerks, trying to use the topic at hand as a metaphor so that they may offend people. To Asperger's people, neurotypicals are over-emotional, illogical, and unpredictable. Neurotypicals come off as total psychopaths, and exhibiting every red flag of an active shooter waiting to happen, such as paranoia that the discussion is about them in some way. Their culture is a disaster. Neurotypicals take anger at the Asperger's person, because in their place, with conduct like that the neurotypical would just be being a jerk.
For example, the English language is a disaster. Basically every plan for a constructed language begins with a criticism of natural language, most of all of the English language. Even natural languages, such as Korean, are easier to read and write than this. English has several words to describe the same thing, and no distinction is made in English between connotation and denotation, emotion and the thing emoted about are treated as exactly the same thing. It is exacting, and for it, there is no plan, and there is no protocol. There are planned languages, but only a million people or so speak them.
For example, military science fantasy is a sub-genre of disaster fiction, explaining much of the appeal. The military and war is a disaster. So is the writing of military science fantasy, it is what it is and has appeal because it's a disaster about disaster. Plots are physically not realizable, and they flout every rule of physics, chemistry, biology, sociology, and plot consistency. It portrays front-line military units as "mildly military," meaning as though they were mere Coast Guard or moderate police units during peace. (Credit to TV Tropes.) It portrays honest, lawful good versus evil, and it is of course more realistic to portray war as chaotic evil with control issues versus chaotic evil with control issues, as a lie fighting a lie. It's no wonder Aspergers people have trouble sympathizing with the characters, the writing is narm charm at best. All of this is because it felt right to some sort of neurotypical writer.
Before I get into something that could make me sound paranoid, I want to make clear, I'm not being pursued by organized criminals. I am single, and I'm not dating, so I have no significant other to not trust. The police do not surveil me, we don't do that here in this country. Here, the police rarely bother with building a case first, they just respond to 911 calls arising from when I'm lost, punch drunk from an accident or when I have to cover my speech disturbances with cloth tape, and they do so by showing up, detaining me, and otherwise taking action. They are not listening nor watching as such. Whatever Martha Mitchell had, I do not have. I do not take off all my clothes and go for a swim in the fountain. I hereby credit Wikipedia's article on the Martha Mitchell effect.
As I'm about to explain, Asperger's and psychopathy are mindsets containing entirely valid arguments, with completely different premises. The classic version of cluster B personality disorder is antisocial personality disorder. For specific situations, such as politics and terrible homes, it is actually quite logical. If it's genetically based, it's called psychopathy. Antisocial personality disorder means that the person is callous, conceited, dishonest aforethought, reckless, ruthless, remorseless, unkind, and unpredictable. It is not curable, so they have a lifetime of practice to learn how to be cunning. Their relationships usually don't last.
Useful approximations to understand brain structures are as follows: neurotypicality believes it and complies with it because it is expedient to believe and to say, and because it's an act of negotiation. Asperger's believes it and says it on the premise that it's logically consistent and has properties that people say truth has. Psychopathy believes it if and only if it's logically consistent with the idea that everything is a lie, and says it if and only if it would be expedient to say in a situation in which everything is a lie, and subject to this, resembles their observations as closely as possible. Williams Syndrome believes it no matter what.
Most people would just explain it as "bad," or "evil," but I explain it as a specific type of scared: nonchalant anger. Their mind is a valid argument with the premise that everything is a lie, and everyone is a liar, in every situation, and they believe something if and only if it is consistent with this premise. This explains everything about it. There are some situations, such as politics, terrible homes, and job interviews, in which it's a useful approximation that everyone lies. In bad situations, the bad guy's thoughts are right. Game Theory demonstrates that non-cooperative equilibria are possible, so it's no wonder that the misconception is frequent enough of an occurrence to be a myth. If the premise is a lie of commission, then it is a hasty generalization. If everyone lies, then life is a strange competition, because no one has any place there, they lied their way into there to begin with. Jealousy is all. Then there's no point in having empathy for them, and they could just be making up their plight, so it's quite logical that they would inflict and ignore suffering. If everyone lies, then everyone has to, just to keep up. That's a non-cooperative equilibrium. It's also conceited. If everything is a lie, then protocol's a lie. If everyone lies, then the warnings of danger to oneself and others are a jealous lie to which they must ingratiate themselves. Even having thought about or even planned something dangerous to oneself or others, they're not fully aware that the danger is real. If everyone lies, and everything is a lie, then nothing is real. If everyone lies, there's no reason why they should be sorry, since it's all just a game, since in the world in which they make decisions, everyone lies, and they observe the outside world as if it were the one in which they make decisions, and in the outside world, life goes on. Therefore, life goes on inside the world in which they make decisions as well, despite or even because of the perceived fact that everyone lies. Lies create chaos, often times intentionally, deliberately, purposefully, or even with malice aforethought, so in the constant change, plans no longer mean anything. Therefore, if everyone lies, there is no point in following a plan. Lies are ingratiatory and parasitic, so they figure out whatever it is that others are doing at the moment, and ingratiate themselves to it, explaining why they often live parasitic lifestyles, such as clientist and a politician that wins the election by spending the most money to buy ad time to tell the lies that the undecided voter dislikes hearing the least. Lies are a type of persuasion, which is a type of behavior modification, which is a type of trying to wield power, so if everyone lies, then it is a matter of course that intrinsic motivation is a lie, and the only motivations left are short-term gains of money, power, hereby glossed over extrinsic motivation, and attention. It's also why they seem afraid of being alone, ignored, replaced, or forgotten, it's because in their view everyone got where they are through lies, so there is no place for anyone, and everyone is just as wrong as everyone else, so instead of considering a person, place, or time as wrong, they continue to try to get their way out of them by trying better or harder. There are rules in this game: get as much money, power, hereby glossed over extrinsic motivation, and attention as possible subject to the laws of physics... and little if anything else. And that's why such people can often be bored, because after all, it's just a wargame in which you're supposed to create chaos. The closest thing that others know to such a mindset is anger. When you're angry, it's hard to make a plan as to what you want to happen to the other person. That's another reason why they ha- recreational substance use and hereby glossed over extrinsic motivation outside a non-toxic long-term romance, are frequent occurrences in situations in which all therein lie, and since the psychopath's brain releases four times as much dopamine in response to the same amount of recreational substances or other stimulus, it feels so gosh-darn awesome, like they are a rockstar-ve such difficulty following plans.
What baffles me about this is how it is they are charming. I think that it's the opposite of charming, but that's probably more about me and my experiences than about them. I think the charm has something to do with the ingratiating. They tend to tell anti-social lies, so they usually tell a lot of prosocial lies as well. They are backstabbing, but in order to get to the metaphorical back, first they must smile a lot and tell you what you want to hear, even if it's hard to say, and even if it's very much not true.
Game Theory demonstrates that such a game as possible, and they've been playing it for as long as they can remember, so they are cunning. The psychopathic mind is quite a valid argument, but they make one mistake: Outside of certain situations, the argument is not sound, and the world in which they make decisions is merely based on reality, in only the worst of all possible cases is it strictly true, and they often lie their way into situations in which it is definitely not real. This is how they can be cunning instead of wise, and how they can defeat themselves. If you don't have cluster B personality disorder, and you have to defeat someone with cluster B personality disorder, remember, you cannot win, and you cannot have revenge. Their game is a wargame, and they've been playing it, perhaps longer than you've existed. As Clausewitz notes, war is just politics continued by other means, and in politics, everyone lies. Such a person is not someone that you should have a lasting nor trusting relationship with, and unless you 100% are one, never persistently have contact with such people. Unless they've succeeded in being out of their mind on recreational substances, the arguments they use for thoughts are utterly valid, so the validity of the arguments that they use for thoughts mean they are not "crazy" as such, just specialized for situations that you need to not have contact with, but unless their mentality is absolutely required for their jobs, and their jobs are absolutely necessary, this absolutely needs to end. The only possible antidote is to leave, then and forever, or run them out of there, then and forever. To run them out of there, you have to know only one person, or you have to first have an idea who they are. You can look up sociopath antidotes on the internet, but the key is, provide an environment that is unlike anything designed by someone on drugs, and in which as many of the people there as possible are honest. They are laboring under the conclusive presumption that no such environment exists, so once you do so, you provide an environment in which their mentality doesn't work. If the environment seems like it was designed on drugs, an objective experience resembles the subjective experience of someone having a drug trip, or if there, everyone lies, then you failed to provide the environment you need to provide. At that point, you probably haven't gotten out fast enough, so you need to leave then and forever.
The personality types can be defined in terms of protocol being, or failing to be, a deal. Asperger's is not about negotiation. It's about following plans and protocols, it is about the planning fallacy. It's a valid argument from the premise that consensus isn't a deal that must be reached, it is or will be a logically consistent plan followed by a tribe working as a team instead. Follow protocol, have a plan, and carry it out, without negotiation, and without vanity, not with authority figures, the group as a whole, nor with outcasts and outsiders. When someone has conduct and thought like this, theory of mind is of little use, since they are not there to understand the other person's mind, they're there to do the job. Neurotypicality is not about that. It's about making a deal with plans and protocol, no matter what that is. Even if the plan and protocol is de jure broken, there is another plan and protocol that is de facto followed. As Wikipedia notes, short, frequent back and forth utterances are a sign of negotiation. Neurotypicals have this a lot. For example, metaphors are a deal with the Grecian Maxims of Truth and Relevance. There are approximately four Grecian Maxims, and Truth and Relevance are two of them. On its face, you did not literally tell your friend to f*** your enemy. However, in toxic relationships and in such genres as romantic comedies, the character may literally f*** their enemy. Metaphor is alien to Asperger's people, explaining why such metaphor rich speeches as 1 and 0, black and white, go exactly nowhere.
Psychopathy may or may not pretend to make a deal, but they usually have no intention whatsoever of making a deal. A lie is just any representation with which you don't make a deal. In such cases as lies by omission, and Haystack lies, it can even be the truth. It's not necessarily a bad person if you yourself can't make a deal with them. They're just the wrong person for you to know. And if they are bad, then perhaps their badness is necessary. Or perhaps good is not something with which they should make a deal, for sometimes deals do fall through for no reason, and perhaps good is making too many or the wrong demands, whatever that may mean. Unless you yourself have cluster B personality disorder, do not go around extorting good out of people. That's not how to make a deal.
Neurotypicality is a confabulation that is helpful in agreeing with, obeying and navigating what unbeknownst to the neurotypical, is a dystopia in which some, and not all, lie. It's about getting to yes, it's about making the deal with unsuspected evil. Dystopia is a human cultural universal, explaining why dystopian fiction and neo-noir can be the most realistic genre. In real life power struggles, evil prevails, so the board of directors and their subordinates, such as the lobbyists, the lawmakers, police, the military, and the court, must exist and function as such, and turn cluster B personality disorder into an enterprise. The political and religious figures that speak out against homosexuality are often men that "secretly" have sex with males, the politicians leave behind little other than political campaigns, wreckage from treating emergencies as emergencies and responding to them, and broken promises, and the significant other is likely to leave or be left. Dishonesty and evil, often indefensibly and unthinkably illegal, immoral, and illegal acts, are human cultural universals. These are all human cultural universals. Neurotypicality is about believing what is expedient to say and using it as tools in a world that makes life difficult, but possible. It's about confabulation, gullibility, and not knowing or not being deeply aware of such antisocial and often unhelpful truths. It's about speaking their conveniently and helpfully fallible mind in a sometimes dishonest and malicious environment. It's about being and staying PIMI.
These are the similarities and differences between the mafia and the state: the mafia extract material gain by threatening to physically render someone physically unable to leave an environment and when they don't get their way, following through, and so does the Tax Service. The Mafia have breaking your legs, and the tax service has prison. The mafia lobbies the government, and the followers of the mafia are ethnic nationalists that believe the system that what the government does and governs is rigged. Otherwise, the only difference between what the mafia do and govern and what the government does and governs is the name of the acts, which acts are said to not be happening. So other than what people say and believe, there is really no difference.
One cannot survive by being a revolutionary, and least of all by being one motivated by Asperger's. In war, anyone that does not unthinkingly follow the so-called "friendly" side is the enemy, one of them exactly the same as the other. This includes the actual enemy, and it includes anyone that disagrees or thinks. People that think includes Asperger's people. In the Lynn Stewart effect, it even includes a lawyer representing their client, if you are the defendant during war, you have no recognized right to legal representation, and your lawyer has no recognized right to represent you. Trustees of Dartmouth College v. Woodward, 17 U.S. (4 Wheat.) 518 (1819) is a lie, it's a too-good-to-be-true offer. Also, having a significant other that you trust is awesome when it goes right, even if they eventually will leave you, or you will leave them. Psychopathy usually doesn't work either, because if you have martial virtues, you'll get martial results, which is usually prison or untimely death from unhealthy habits, such as substance abuse. Therefore, one must accept the status quo as good and just, even if experience or countless hours of constant research reveals that it is not so, and to an unthinkable degree fails to be so. Subject to the simple fact that it's an incredibly corrupt and gullible thing to do, neurotypicals can be highly proficient at navigating such an unthinkably corrupt and inept system. Policy experts are baffled at the dysrationalia (credit to Wikipedia for the term and examples, both cited and exhibited in such phenomena as "biting," see WP:BITE) and the evil, while all else are contented and complacent. It can be what passes for a good life, which is why it's the most frequent occurrence, but it doesn't make any sense, because it doesn't require that it makes sense. Unlike the psychopathic mind, the neurotypical mind is not a valid argument, it's gullibility. It's a confabulation coming from believing lies that the leadership and those that fight for them, such as police, orderlies and gangsters, tell. It's a charming and good lie, technically known as a blue lie, and being on the scale of an entire society, it's a noble lie, but it's still a lie. Institutions such as television, radio, government, workplace buffoonery, corporate music, motivational speaking and motivational posters tell us this pro-social lie. Corporate America is fundamentally based on conforming to the same mediocre task, again and again, eternally. As Anarcho-communist literature notes, imagine two units of time, 36 seconds, and the rest of your life, spend preparing for, doing, and recovering from this one task, again and again. That's Corporate America. As Chomsky notes, Corporate America is fundamentally based on conformity and mediocrity, and neurotypical hyper-focus and other attributes fit these requirements. This is an example of how good and right are not necessarily the same thing.
Also, there is Williams syndrome, also known as WBS. It's a confabulation in which someone believes the party line, and gets with the program, without negotiation and without expecting consistency. Such people are generally not capable of adulting.
Given who's where, when they are there, who talks to whom, and when they do, what happens to someone and how they are perceived as more about the other person than the person on the receiving end. Life is not about being not a psychopath. It's not about whether you are Asperger's. It's not about not being of a particular brain structure, it's about being in the right place at the right time, and talking to the right people at the right time. To take on the photography style of advice, I hereby dispassionately look to one side while frowning gently, with the camera at 45 degrees from the center of my look.

2020.07.29 22:39 BringATwenty Mormonism Was Started During Uncertain Colonial Times As a Secret Military Strategy to Save the Doomed "USA". It Worked. Since Then Mormonism Has Nepotistically Grown To Become The Modern USA's $150 Billion Dollar Fraud. This Original Chain of Events Is Outlined In The Following 42 Critical Points.

  1. After the 8 year long revolutionary war ended in 1783, the "United States of America" still faltered countless times in the following decades. Easterly landlocked colonial territories outlined on paper as "States" could not come together as "One Nation". Different military's, militias, brotherhoods, factions, factions within factions, slavery and counterfeit money bred constant chaos. For many periods over those following decades attacks from Great Britain, Spain, France, Mexico and the warring Indian tribes they supplied meant the easterly landlocked territories were doomed to be conquered by one nation or another. (Even Russiahad a trade presence on the west coast) Year in and year out, every day and every night, every primitive, easterly landlocked, colonial territory's survival was threatened. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) (9)
  2. The Nation needed to expand West to save Freedom but the unorganized military was spread too thin. Some settlers made progress with peaceful Native American tribes yet wagon trains of settlers who dared to venture West were still violently slaughtered by warring Indian tribes. Young, old, no one was spared. Stories of the violent massacres kept many settlers held up in the landlocked territories. Other's fled back to England. Still others came. (1) (2)
  3. The guiding hand of a centuries old Scottish Brotherhood can be seen throughout the USA's founding decades. Known founding fathers George Washington (1732-1799), Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), Paul Revere (1735-1818), John Hancock (1736-1793) and others were members of the Brotherhood's different factions within factions spread across the territories. Hidden history reveals so much more about these founding fathers than many know. For example, George Washington still owned 300 slaves upon his death. Paul Revere was a master of metals and an entrepreneur and his clients included the US Government (1) (2). Dynamic Oligarch, Governor, Inventor and swimmer Benjamin Franklin (1) (2) might one day go down in history as a colonial version of Bruce Wayne/Batman. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5))
  4. Faraway on the other side of the globe, during the same time the revolutionary war was going on, England's Captain James Cook, a global explorer and close associate of the Brotherhood, led the discovery of what would become Hawaii. He saw firsthand how polygamy could grow a nation quickly. Word of the native island people and their bounty of ancestral legends, ocean going stories and treasure traveled around the globe and throughout the Brotherhood's ranks on both sides of the Atlantic. Among the native's Cook and his crew were first revered as immortals but about a year later Cook was attacked and killed as an imposter. This did not phase other explorers and visitors. Travel by ship to the islands became so familiar during colonial times that when conquering Hawaiian King Kamehameha passed away his drunken son LihoLiho, who carried the King's title in name only, traded away a substantial portion of the island's treasures for a yacht built by a Salem, Massachusetts family prominent in seafaring, politics and the military (Crowninshield). After the yacht reached the islands in 1820 it was extensively and expensively remodeled under LihoLiho's orders. It suspiciously sank in a Kauai bay less than two years later and LihoLiho suspiciously died on a peculiar, ill fated trip to Great Britain in 1824. (1) (2) (3)
  5. In the failing US Territories of the late 1700's and early 1800's, patriotic leaders prayed and planned and searched for ways to save the failed Nation. Guidance was sought. Plans were constantly suggested and evaluated. Different members of the Brotherhood secretly suggested laying the foundation for a massive religious following built by polygamy to successfully pave the way West so the failed Nation could expand and be saved.
  6. During this critical time, at least 14 stories of different people having similar "religious" experiences popped up around the territories. None of them created a great following. (1)
  7. During the 34 years spanning 1787-1821, the US's first 24 easterly landlocked states were formed on paper. However, 61% of these states were formed during the first 16 years of that period. For the last 18 years of that period, the pace of forming states had come to a violent halt with only 7 being formed. The chaotic territory known on paper as the "USA" was on the doorstep of imminent failure and what would become a quarter century blight where only two more states would be formed on paper. (1821-1845) (1)
  8. That 1821-1845 time period coincidentally also covers 99.9% of the time that the published, foundational beginnings of "Mormonism" occurred. 1820 is the published year of Joseph Smith's First Vision. 1847 is the published year Brigham Young strategically ordered his west coast bound following to suddenly stop in Mexico Territory at an enormous salt filled lake smack dab in the center of the American continent's untamed West. Even though it was in Mexico Territory at the time, the location of this Great Salt Lake was perfectly centralized in the continent's West and could serve as the doorstep to how the West could be won. Over the next 20 years after Brigham Young's arrival an estimated 60,000-70,000 faithful pioneers would follow. Many were followers of Mormonism. Many practiced polygamy. Many would be sent in all direction of the West to faithfully colonize strategic territories and pave the way for the Nation's armies (1).
  9. For nearly 195 years, Mormonism has surreptitiously weaved historical claims about a man named "Martin Harris" (1783-1875). Mormonism claims Harris was a humble farmer who's greedy wife left him after he mortgaged their family farm to faithfully pay today's equivalent of hundreds of thousands of dollars for the first publishing of the boy Joseph Smith's "The Book of Mormon" and that shortly after that economic failure and other critical founding roles Harris lost faith in Mormonism but later rejoined Mormonism in Utah at the very end of his 92 year long life. (1)) (2) Hidden history reveals that these claims about Harris ARE EXACTLY HOW HE WANTED IT. The purveyors of Mormonism go to great lengths to perpetuate these myths about Harris even today. If you don't accept the boy "Joseph Smith" as a child prophet who grew into a man prophet, Harris' purveyors of Mormonism want you to hate Joseph Smith as an impossible genius-con artist-pedophile so you fail to see the truth of who Harris really was and what Harris really did.
  10. "History is written by the victor" and the past two centuries demonstrate that Harris definitely was the victor. This is because in reality Harris' "greedy wife" "Lucy" was actually his child cousin. Yes she was a child. Yes she was his first cousin. She was 15 and he was 25 when he forced her to marry him. Yet within Mormonism story after story leaves this critical detail out. Additionally for one reason or another Lucy became partially deaf over the next 20 years. There is also at least one report that in addition to sexually abusing this child Harris also physically abused her. This is an indication of Harris' proclivity to control children. Harris eventually fathered 6 children) through Lucy's nubile womb. 28 years later and after being physically separated from Harris for years, Lucy suspiciously died at the age of 42. Weeks later then 52 year old Harris married 21 year old Caroline Young. A niece of Brigham Young. He fathered 7 children through here nubile womb.
  11. Like the Crowninshield's and other influential families throughout critical parts of the chaotic New England territories, The Harris family was also wealthy, well connected and zealously patriotic. With his father Nathan Harris, and his brothers (Emer and Preserved) Martin controlled hundreds of productive acres in the Palmyra, New York region with complex operations producing a river of revenue from livestock and linen. Martin Harris' father Nathan Harris and mother Rhoda Lapham Harris originally moved the Harris family to the Palmyra, New York area in 1796, 20 years before the poverty stricken Smith's would arrive practically on Harris' doorstep. (1) (For the Sum of $3000 By Susan Easton Black)
  12. The white linen Martin produced was so exceptional that he won several awards for it. Since Mormonism's beginning days, the wearing of multiple layers of white clothing has been expected of followers. For decades manufacturing this clothing and selling it to followers has been a secret, multi-million dollar industry for Mormonism. The white clothing includes under garments for daily wear by males and females as well as outer garments for wear in private ceremonies. (For the Sum of $3000 By Susan Easton Black)
  13. Harris was a zealous patriot. At 29 years old, four years after forcing his child cousin to marry him, he began regularly leaving his life of power, wealth and marriage as a "Harris" to regularly fight during the 3 years of "The War of 1812". ( "The War of 1812" was actually "The War of 1812-1815".) Harris was recognized as a leader and an honored war veteran at war's end. As an honored war veteran, is it safe to suggest that he became familiar with killing in the name of patriotism as wars require of brave men and women (1) ?
  14. Harris was a convincing story teller. He once got people to donate money for what he claimed would be used to support the Christian Greeks fighting the Turks. He also claimed Jesus appeared to him in the form of a deer and walked with him for a couple miles. He also claimed an incident regarding a flickering candle was the work of the devil. (1) (2))
  15. After the War of 1812, the well respected, wealthy, influential, honored, 33 year old Martin Harris was nominated to be "Road Overseer" in the Palmyra region. A position he controlled for the next 7 years. This included the 7 years it took to finally construct New England's Eerie Canal.
  16. The dynamic Harris was an influential supporter of the Eerie Canal and it's possible route. Harris made sure the route passed by he and his father's lands. This would expand their river of cash and operations to the eastern territories in exponential ways. This river of cash would be used by many to finance business and patriotic endeavors in the failed Nation. (1) Prior to the Eerie Canal "New York" was way down on the list of in-demand territorial ports. Historical economist's acknowledge that the Eerie Canal made New York the leading port and global economic powerhouse that it has been for nearly two centuries.
  17. The boy Joseph Smith Jr. was born December 23, 1805. The poverty stricken Smith family relocated 8 times in the chaotic New England area during Joseph's Smith Jr.'s first 10 years. If they were in Europe they may have been referred to as "gypsys". With Great Britain's latest attack and eventual retreat underway after the War of 1812, the Smith family with it's many sons of working age moved to Palmyra in 1816 in search of work on the controversial, to be built "Eerie Canal". (To this day, published Mormon history acts as if the Eerie Canal doesn't exist.)
  18. During these colonial decades, almost 1 in 5 children did not survive their first year. The Smith family was no exception. Although some children are not listed here in 1816 the living and to-be-born members of Smith family included Joseph Smith Sr. (father, 45, d. 1840), Lucy Mack Smith (Mother, 41, d. 1856), Alvin Smith (son, 18, d. 1823), Hyrum Smith (son, 16, d. 1844), Sophronia (daughter, 13, d. 1876), Joseph Smith Jr. (son, 10, d. 1844), Samuel Smith (son, 8 d. 1844), William Smith (son, 5, d. 1894), Katherine Smith (daughter, 3, d. 1900), Don Carlos (son, newborn, d. 1841). Lucy Smith would be born 5 years later, d. 1882). Shortly after arriving in the Palmyra region, the poverty stricken, uneducated Smith family took over a primitive cabin less than 1 mile from Harris's lands that bordered the future route of Eerie Canal. This was the Smith family's 8th move in Joseph Smith Jr.'s 10 years. After moving so many times, they absolutely moved here to gain work on the Eerie Canal. This move would be the families last. Mother Lucy Smith would bury all but one Smith male during the first 25 years of Mormonism's beginnings. (1)
  19. Harris was 22 years older than Joseph Smith. As a well known, wealthy local and "Road Overseer" who regularly hired local boys and men to work on his own lands, Harris met the Smith family with it's many sons around 1816 when Smith's moved to Palmyra. Harris did not live within 1 mile of the Smith family for 8 or 10 years before meeting them as Mormon history weaves. Harris likely learned of the arrival of the Smith family within days of their arrival to Palmyra through longtime Palmyra residents including the resident who owned the tiny primitive cabin the large Smith family moved into. (For the Sum of $3000 By Susan Easton Black, map, page 6)
  20. Within published Mormonism there are also conflicting accounts spanning three violent chaotic colonial years when Martin Harris met "Joseph Smith". Some accounts claim it was 1824, some claim it was 1827. This would have been when Joseph Smith was 18...or 21. Another ignored, critical discrepancy. (1) (2)
  21. In the early 1800, as years of chaotic uncertainty unfolded, for one reason or another Harris appropriated the Brotherhood's patriotic goals for the Nation for himself. Among other things he knew of the other religious experiences told by others around the territories. (Harris would eventually become related by marriage to one of the story tellers). Harris saw that a young mans voice was needed for a following to catch on. For that, the powerful Harris chose a young many to be a voice of his own. This voice was that of 18 year old Alvin Smith). However, as Harris laid the ground work for his patriotic cause over the next 4 years, headstrong Alvin resisted. Because Hyrum was also older than 18 after those 4 years and like Alvin would have been privy to some of the Brotherhood's publishing's and ceremonies that Harris borrowed (or stole) from, Harris skipped choosing Hyrum as a potential "voice" and chose Joseph, the dynamic, naïve, uneducated, friendly, 14 year old boy who walked with a limp. This is now the year 1820 and is when the boy Joseph's published stories begin. 4 years later though, Alvin was engaged to be married and saw potential for the Smith's without their dependence on the Harris' for work. He began to interfere with the powerful Harris' grooming and temptations of the impressionable Joseph. With the fate of the Nation at stake and no more time to find another voice amid Joseph's waiverings growing ever more critical as he too approached the age of 18, the wealthy, zealous, altruistic, powerful, patriotic Harris ordered Alvin's murder . It was just four and a half weeks before Joseph's 18th birthday. After Alvin's death, Harris used threats towards other Smith family members to ensure Joseph would not waiver. Fearing for the rest of his family and now 3 year old little Lucy, and with no "911" to call and no one else to come to their aid, 17 year old Joseph and the rest of the Smith family would become Harris' emotional hostages for the next two decades. Just like Harris had done with his child cousin who he forced to marry him, Harris had gained control of the boy Joseph and the Smiths.
  22. The powerful Harris, his father and their faction, ("The Men Who Visit") continued freely catalyzing Mormonism and the Book of Mormon from the Brotherhood's materials. They also used materials from forced and unforced sources including authors of 6 previous publications (#3). In their zeal, with their power, influence and use of violence they were able to greatly reduce the prominence of the publications they borrowed and stole from.
  23. Mormonism's publishings indicate "The Book of Mormon" was originally a 30-60 pound heavy stack of gold plates discovered in a sealed box under a boulder and that the box also included a sword (The Sword of Laban), a spherical compass (The Liahona) and a breast plate with a pair of primitive glasses attached to it. Publishing's indicate that translation of the engraved writings on the plates occurred by Joseph Smith without him looking at the plates but instead by Joseph wearing the Urim and Thummim and iterating out loud the words that appeared to him. If he didn't want to use the plates, he could also use a black stone he had been led to. If he didn't want to use the black stone, he could use a white stone he already had. (1). A scribe who was either his first wife Emma, Martin Harris, David Whitmer or Oliver Cowdery. (2)
  24. Harris' reputation for being wealthy was well known enough that in 1833 he was sued and jailed for $1000 (what some would say is today's economic equivalent of $500,000) by a young woman for publicly saying she had a "bastard child". In that day women couldn't sue a man alone so the suit was brought by a male friend of the woman. Harris posted bail and left. The suit was quietly dismissed under the claim that the woman was already "scandalous" prior to her claims against the well known Harris. (Link available by download through google search "the imprisonment of Martin Harris").
  25. During the following years under Harris control, naive Joseph resisted at times. Joseph tried to break free at times. Joseph sought funding for his own militia. Joseph spoke in code to his militia. As a victim, out of survival or as an eventual participant, Joseph absolutely made mistakes.
  26. A city was built around Mormonism. Harris and his endless river of cash and connections from the Eerie Canal was never far away. Day by day Harris' barges on the Eerie Canal sent one fortune of goods after another to the eastern territories. At the port of New York, the empty barges were loaded with immigrants grateful to have some place inland to go. Stories of the American Bible gave them something to believe in. For one reason or another, many of these early male, female and child immigrants were from Scotland...
  27. Harris and his faction forced Joseph to claim that 24 different angels appeared to Joseph including Adam, Moses, Noah and other biblical characters.
  28. Harris' self-fulfilling prophecy involving patriotically well-connected aristocrats Charles Anthon, Luther Bradish and Samuel L. Mitchell. Note that Bradish was a literary agent of profound, well educated early American author James Fenimore Cooper. Cooper is the author of "The Leatherstocking Tales", "The Last of the Mohicans" and other known titles. Cooper was also a midshipman in the US Navy who was very familiar with the working of ocean vessels. Like Benjamin Franklin, Cooper was known for his intellect and occasionally mischievous creativity. (1) "The Book of Mormon" contains ocean going stories (1) (2). Like Harris, Bradish also fought in the "War of 1812". These are just a few of the critical circles of influence needed to catalyze something like "The Book of Mormon" and Mormonism and to see it through to fruition while minimizing and eliminating obstacles along the way. These are the kind of critical circles of influence that a naive, uneducated, poor, handicapped, gypsy boy from a new-to-the-neighborhood family just did not have.
  29. In 1844, with thousands of immigrant and American born followers spread across many New England territories and elsewhere, Harris secretly ordered Joseph to began preparations to lead Mormonism's followers from Nauvoo into the West to save the failed USA. Instead, the naive Joseph believed he could save the failed USA by becoming President of the USA himself. Believing he was finally too powerful for Harris to kill him, Joseph publicly announced his campaign for President of the USA. With no time to spare, the zealous, patriotic Harris immediately ordered the murder of Joseph Smith and two of his three remaining brothers. Within weeks of Joseph's presidential announcement Joseph and his older brother Hyrum were arrested and killed within days (June 27, 1844). With thousands of followers, his own militia and the bounties of an entire growing city at his fingertips, Joseph allowed himself to be arrested believing that he and Harris would reconcile. After Joseph and Hyrum's murder however, in an insidious taunt to other less heinous factions who's attempts failed to gain a following and to remove all obstacles at seeing his own faction's plans through, Harris ordered the murder of younger brother Samuel Smith 33 days later (July 30, 1844). The number 33 is significant within the Brotherhood. For one reason or another Harris spared the Smith females (Mother Lucy Mack, daughter's Sophronia, Katherine, Lucy) and the youngest living Smith son at the time William. In all, 6 Smith male family members including Alvin (murder), Joseph Smith Sr. (suspicious), Don Carlos (illness), Hyrum (murder), Joseph (murder) and Samuel (murder) died during the Lord's careful "Restoration of the Gospel".
  30. After Joseph's unbelievable, tragic and violent murder Mormonism split into multiple groups with several different leaders emerging. Some believed in polygamy some didn't. 1) Brigham eventually led the majority into the West. 2) Joseph's family and first wife Emma stayed in Nauvoo. 3) Other followers went to Philadelphia. 4) Others went on a ship to sail to the continent's west coast with Samuel Brannan (who pulled a page from Benjamin Franklin's book of propaganda and sensationalism and started the gold rush of 1849 by publishing reports of gold in the area in eastern markets. Brannan is recognized by many as the west coast's first millionaire although not from "gold". Like many others in Mormonism's founding days publishings indicate Brannan was also eventually "exiled" from Mormonism). 5) Other's followed James Strange (Strange was Harris' back up plan in case Brigham was killed or failed. Strange led a following to northern territories on the Great Lakes. Harris was never far away from Strange. Strange eventually also produced "writings" from plates he claimed he was led to. (Harris is noted within Mormon history as being responsible for "losing" 116 pages of writings Joseph produced). Strange was murdered 9 years after Brigham Young stopped his following at the salt lake in the center of the West and the West was won.
  31. During this period other people would mysteriously die or disappear. Harris and/or people claiming to be associated with the US Government were never far away. (1)
  32. Within two years of Mormonism conquering the West, US states started being formed on paper again. This ended the quarter century blight that began shortly before Mormonism's founding days. (1)
  33. When it came time for Brigham Young to commission a statue to commemorate Mormonism's settling of "Salt Lake City" and to be placed at the entrance to his expansive "Utah Territory" property instead of choosing an angel Moroni, a figure of Joseph, or anything related to Mormonism he chose an eagle on top of a 5-pointed star. This statue commemorating the "Gate for the Eagle" became known as "The Eagles Gate". These symbols acknowledged the conquering of the American continent's West by Freemasonry under the banner of the USA. Although the "Eagle" has always been highly visible, the "Star" is seldom mentioned publicly but is clearly visible in person and in many images. This Star is also used throughout Mormonism's early ecclesiastical buildings. Note that in the 1970's some groups with nefarious purposes adopted the 5-pointed star ("pentagram") as a purported satanic symbol however among different uses related to the USA, it had been used for over a century to also represent the rising Eastern Star.
  34. Between his 15 year old child cousin bride Lucy (10 years his junior) and his mysterious bride Caroline (29 years his junior), Martin Harris fathered 13 living children through the two females nubile wombs. Today there are 13 secret corporations that control Mormonism's $100 billion dollars.
  35. Images of Martin Harris in his later years (1870) show him holding a staff with a serpant's head. 116 years before, Benjamin Franklin used a serpant as patriotic imagery (1754).
  36. Although images of just about everyone else in Mormonism's founding days exist, Mormonism maintains that no images of Joseph Smith exist. Instead, they elect to use handsome cartoon renderings of Joseph Smith that generate millions of dollars in revenue every year. This is while Mormonism also ignores reports of at least one photograph and forensic science that indicates a less sensationalized image of Joseph Smith. Naturally, this image also demonstrates more family semblance with Alvin Smith than the cartoon images do.
  37. Of all figures in Mormonism's beginnings the grave marker of the forgotten Martin Harris is by far the most substantial. Joseph Smith doesn't even have his own marker. His is shared with his brother Hyrum and his first wife Emma even though Emma married a non-Mormon on Joseph Smith's birthday 3 years later. Mormonism goes to great lengths to hide Emma's marriage to a non-mormon after Joseph's murder especially with the critical role of Emma that has been weaved throughout Mormonism and the translation.
  38. Polygamy openly continued for over 60 years before being renounced so Utah could officially become a State. Polygamy continued privately for decades and continues still in many ways due to Mormonism maintaining spiritual polygamy.
  39. Mormonism openly practicing racism until 1978.
  40. Nepotistic connections through blood or marriage existed throughout Mormonism's founding days with the 3 witnesses and the 8 witnesses and continues today. (1) (2) (3) (4) (5). Note that of the "3 Witnesses" Martin Harris was one. One was also a "Whitmer". 4 of the "8 Witnesses" were Whitmer's. "Hyrum Page" of the "8 Witnesses" was married to a Whitmer. Joseph Smith's father and two brothers make up the rest of the "8". All most all of the witnesses eventually left Mormonism but out of fear of retribution from Harris' faction they never recanted their stories or roles in Mormonism.
  41. Today Mormonism is a nepotistic (1) (2) (3) (4) $150 Billion tax-free corporation masquerading as a "religion". It owns influential roles in companies you know and use everyday. $100 Billion of that ill-gotten wealth places Mormonism among the top 5 of the largest cash reserves in the USA. Additional billions are held in real estate development (one example), media control (NBC-UTAH), the USA's largest cattle producer, the USA's largest nut producer, Universities in Utah, Idaho and Hawaii (BYU) and billions of dollars more in tax free capital raising buildings disguised as chapels, temples and other "ecclesiastical" buildings. Even though Mormonism continues to have lie after lie revealed about it, it maintains disturbing nepotistic control over the State of Utah and it's political, legal, municipal, educational and media offices as well as it's global at-risk "volunteer" force of tens of thousands of teenagers).
  42. If Mormonism doesn't seem like an insidious regime yet this link should make it perfectly clear.
This all means that Today, Utah's population of 3 million people and millions of others around the globe are subject to a nepotistic, evil regime and are in DESPERATE need of rescue by the Federal Government.
MR. PRESIDENT PLEASE HELP US!

2020.07.24 03:59 cuntymcfucktrumpet 35-year-old Tony Walsh goes missing from Truro, NS, after a witness saw him getting into a truck. Land and underwater searches have revealed nothing and his case is now being investigated as a homicide.

At around 11.00am on Friday, 23rd August 2019, 35-year-old father Peter Anthony Walsh (known as "Tony,") left a home in Crowes Mills, NS driving a beige 1990 Chrysler Sebring. He was last heard from at 1.20pm the same day and has not been seen since.
When Walsh didn't arrive home, his mother, Susan Robben, assumed he had met up with friends. When he didn't return the next day, she became concerned. On Sunday, when he didn’t show up after promising to help a family member with something, Robben got in touch with his friends and began posting on Facebook in an effort to locate his car.
On Wednesday, 28th August, Walsh's sister got a Facebook message about the vehicle stating that it was parked in a business parking lot in nearby Truro, NS. Robben phoned police and reported Walsh missing.
The RCMP released a statement asking the public to contact them with any relevant information. They discovered that a witness had seen Walsh get into a truck in Truro wearing brown work pants, a white t-shirt with black writing on it, and brown Timberland boots.
As well as Truro, Walsh is known to have driven to several other locations that day, including Millbrook and Debert. Debert, Truro, and Crowes Mills are all within 20 kilometres of one another, with Debert being the most westerly town. Millbrook is 80 kilometres from Debert.
In September 2019, a tip called in led police to a cemetery in Debert. They combed the grounds and did not locate Walsh, so the RCMP’s H Division Underwater Recovery Team were called to the scene to examine small bodies of water in the secluded area nearby. The operation was halted near the end of September to be continued at a later date: divers had combed through half a metre of silt and thick swathes of chickweed and found nothing. The RCMP states that they have searched these ponds on at least two occasions.
In the lead up to Christmas, Walsh's mother spoke with local media and said:
"That morning he came out to the grooming salon (in the garage by their house) to talk to me. We discussed our plans for the day. He was going to do errands and was working that night. He said he’d be back at supper time and would bring me back an iced coffee. He was acting his usual easygoing self, not nervous or scared."
On 20th January 2020, the RCMP announced that Walsh's disappearance was being investigated as a homicide. Although she wouldn't confirm the number of suspects the RCMP was looking into, Cpl. Jennifer Clarke confirmed that they had at least one and that they do not believe the murder was a random act of violence.
Following the announcement, Walsh's sister, Sara Walsh-Turner, said in an interview that Walsh had spent several years living in western Canada and in Ontario. She said that even while Walsh was away, family was his first priority and that "he worked hard to rebuild his connection" to them after returning to Nova Scotia.
According to the RCMP, investigators have received lots of information and tips but are continuing to ask the public for help.
