2020.06.07 19:07 GhostSamurai701 Finished Chuck for the first time! My thoughts

So I had heard about the show before but never really thought of it much later. I watched Psych (arguably my all time favorite TV show) and looked up shows similar to it and Chuck always came up. Yvonne Strahovski is stupidly gorgeous so I figured why not.
I loved the show. It's so much fun. Season 1 and 2 are one of my favorite seasons of any show. I tend to love earlier seasons of shows because it's the purest vision of the show and the characters just feel more homely. Everything about it is great. The Buy More, Chuck and Sarah's dynamic, Casey being Casey, Morgan being a lovable goof, Awesome and Ellie representing his other life. I knew I was gonna love the show within the first 10 minutes of Episode 1.
Season 3 and 4 are also really good. At this point the show can't be as lighthearted as it was earlier, which I understand, so now the episodes are starting to feel very high stakes. Morgan knowing the secret takes away a very big reason why I loved S1 and S2 so much and a major core plot of the show. But obviously, as the show progresses people have to find out. But they do a really good job with plot twists and taking the story forward while still maintaining the essence of who Chuck is and what he's about. I'll get to Season 5 later.
But the biggest reason why I enjoyed the ever-loving shit out of this show is CHARAH!!!!! Seriously, this is one of the greatest ships ever. I absolutely love their will they/won't they dynamic and never got tired of it. They have some of the best angst I've ever seen on a show. It fits their situation perfectly and they way the couple develops is just insanely good. They give you every single trope in the book (fake dating, soft guy/tough girl, separation) it's like the writers were writing them based off fanfic they read and I loved it. Their chemistry is just next level too.
I loved Casey too. The way they subtly showed him truly starting to care for his team, rooting for Charah, and being attached to Burbank was nice. Morgan was a perfect friend to a character like Chuck. All their convos were funny and his loyalty to him was great. Jeff and Lester are funny, but Lester is such an aggressive perv throughout the show and it really ruins his character for me. That said, Jeffster is iconic
A minor complaint: I hate how Sarah told Shaw her real name and not Chuck. I know it's her choice but we were all so certain that Chuck would know first and it just seemed like they brushed past it. I was so offended watching the scene lmao
So.....the ending. Plainly put, I don't hate, it but I really, really don't like it. I know it ends in a way where we're supposed to believe Sarah will get her memories back from the kiss or they will all slowly come back to her anyways. And that's fine, I believe it. But I'm sorry, taking away Sarah's memories and essentially resetting the show with 2 goddamn episodes left just won't sit right with me. It's not that I don't like controversial endings (I'm one of the 13 people who like Dexter's ending)
The thing is, I really like the idea of someone losing their memories. I really thought in 4x13, Chuck had lost 90% of his memories and the show was going to go through a monumental shift. I would've applauded them if they did that and they spent the rest of the show getting his memories back while doing missions as well. But doing it to Sarah with TWO EPISODES LEFT is just so cruel and and uncalled for, and honestly just very lazy shock value. I felt robbed. 5x11 is just so difficult to watch. 5x12 tore into my soul. 5x13 gave me hope but I just felt empty. Thank god for the video diaries so Sarah could know 100% she loved him. But her saying that she believed Chuck but didn't feel anything for him probably hurt more than her losing her memories. The show went with this really good storyline way too late, and it just messes with me. A show like this doesn't need to end ambiguously. It's not that type of show.
Sorry this was so long. I can't wait to rewatch it after some time, although I don't know if i'll ever watch those last 3 episodes again. Season 5 itself was okay but it can't compare to earlier. But getting back to those earlier seasons again should lessen the pain. I really hope they do a movie at some point.

2019.07.11 18:02 Dr_Charisma What are some ways you wish the MCU had gone differently?

Here are some:
  1. The Disney/Fox deal happened in 2013 or 2014, therefore allowing the following things to happen:
- Days of Future Past is the ending of the X-franchise, which is good because it was a great movie unlike Dark Phoenix.
- Quicksilver not dying in Age of Ultron, but instead leaving The Avengers to find "people like him".
- A Fantastic Four reboot in 2015 or 2016.
- An X-Men reboot in 2016, 2017 or 2018.
- A Wolverine solo film in 2017.
- X-Men and FF in Avengers: Infinity War, with Wolverine playing a role in Endgame.
- A proper X-Men film (or Disney+ series) debuting in early 2020.
- Spinoff films about heroes like Silver Surfer and Deadpool in Phase 4, as well as more Fantastic Four and X-Men films.
  1. Marvel gets full rights back to Spider-Man in 2015, allowing for:
- Unlimited Spider-Man movies and appearances.
- Roles in the MCU for awesome characters like Venom, Kraven the Hunter and Black Cat.
  1. Incredible Hulk gets two sequels, and they are as follows:
- Hulk 2 (2012) features Hulk being approached by General Ross to stop two foreign recreations of the Hulk, which are Absorbing Man (Russia) and Radioactive Man (China). Rick Jones is introduced as a SHIELD agent.
- Hulk 3 (2014) ties into Winter Soldier, and shows that Samuel Sterns is working for HYDRA as "The Leader" and creating an army of gamma monsters for them. Jen Walters becomes She-Hulk in the film, and later appears in Civil War as part of Iron Man's team.
  1. The Masters of Evil having a two-film story arc between Age of Ultron and Civil War, but it's not until the latter film that Zemo becomes the group's leader. (He also gets his purple costume from the concept art.)
  2. Captain Marvel debuts in Civil War.
  3. Inhumans becomes a movie instead of a show, and gets its original late-2018 release date. I think the reason the show sucked is because it tried to stretch out what should have been a feature film into a TV season.
  4. The following things are changed about Endgame:
- The time-skip is to 2020 instead of 2023, which I feel would make more sense.
- Due to the Fox deal, Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and Wolverine feature in supporting roles.
- The final battle features cameos from Netflix and Agents of SHIELD heroes.
- Kang is the "real" villain, and Annihilus appears as a supporting antagonist, setting him up as a future threat.
- Bucky Barnes becomes the new Captain America instead of Sam Wilson.
  1. The TV shows are more closely tied to the MCU, with Agents of SHIELD Season 6 directly referencing the snap and the Netflix shows having more explicit connections.
  2. The Real Mandarin being the villain of Iron Man 3 rather than Aldrich Killian.
  3. MODOK being the main antagonist of Ant-Man and The Wasp instead of Bill Foster. Ghost still appears, however.
  4. Agents of SHIELD has more characters and villains from the comics. The villains include A.I.M. (though MODOK isn't introduced until Ant-Man and Wasp), Count Nefaria, Baron Von Strucker (instead of having him appear in AoU's pointless cameo), Scorpio, Titania, The Wrecking Crew and other villains who are pretty well known in the comics but not big enough to appear in feature films. Heroes who'd appear would include Sharon, Carter, Clay Quartermain, Jimmy Woo, Goliath (Bill Foster), Tigra, Paladin, Machine Man and Living Lightning. Also, Deathlok and Mockingbird would be permanent main members of the team.
  5. Spider-Man: Far From Home's first post-credits scene doesn't show his identity being exposed, but it reveals that Mysterio has survived. It shows him being approached by Norman Osborn, Vulture and Scorpion to join their new team. When Mysterio asks Osborn how many people he has in mind, he says he "wants to keep it small".
  6. Danny Ketch is the Ghost Rider introduced on AoS instead of Robbie Reyes. (I feel Robbie is too recent of an addition to the Marvel universe to make sense appearing before Phase 4.)
  7. Blade and Ghost Rider get Hulu shows after they both debut on AoS.
  8. Giant-Man (Hank Pym) and Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) appear in the first and second Avengers films, but we still get the Scott Lang/Ant-Man films.
  9. Change the following casting choices:
- Jensen Ackles as Hawkeye
- Aaron Eckhart as Hank Pym
- Yvonne Strahovski as Captain Marvel
- Michael Ealy as War Machine
- Garrett Hedlund as Iron Fist
  1. Enchantress as Thor 2's main antagonist, but the film still features Malekith in a supporting role.
  2. The Runaways TV show is on Disney+ and doesn't happen till after Endgame.
What do you wish went differently?

2018.10.02 14:35 Anonymous_1-2-3-4-5 MCU Movies Behind the Scenes Facts *according to IMDB *Wanted to do this for fun* Day 21: Captain Marvel & Avengers 4

So i'm going to go on IMDB and look at each MCU movies behind the scenes facts and POST THE MOST INTERESTING ONES here, I will post each movie a day instead of what I did before where I did 10 posts, I will start with the first Iron Man and each day will be the next MCU movie after it, ending with Guardians 3, I will also do the Netflix Shows, Agents of Shield and Agent Carter

1. The cardboard cut-out Carol shoots in the Blockbuster store was originally supposed to be Jim Carrey in The Mask, with Carol mistaking the green face for a Skrull, but the filmmakers couldn't secure the rights.

2. As a tribute to the late Stan Lee (who died before this movie was released), during the opening Marvel Studios sequence, various scenes of his past cameos from the Marvel Studios films are used in place of the Avengers characters.

3. Goose is played by four different very professional cat actors named Reggie, Rizzo, Gonzo, and Archie.

4. Brie Larson is allergic to cats, so her scenes involving Goose were filmed with a puppet or computer-generated VFX.

5. In the comics, Captain Marvel's cat is named Chewie, after Chewbacca from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). In this film, it was named Goose after Goose Bradshaw from Top Gun (1986).

6. The security guard Captain Marvel speaks to at the beginning of the movie is Marvel security director Barry Curtis.

7. When Talos confronts Carol and Nick in Louisiana, he sips from a fast food drink container. It is the exact same design as the cup that Jules (played by Samuel L. Jackson) sips in the scene in Pulp Fiction (1994) where they steal back the briefcase.

8. Project PEGASUS stands for "Potential Energy Group/Alternate Sources/United States." It was previously mentioned in the Avengers (2012).

9. Jude Law took counsel from his Sherlock Holmes (2009) co-star Robert Downey, Jr., who plays Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, on appearing in this movie. Law stated, "He talked a little bit about how making a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is fitting this one piece into a bigger picture, and giving yourself over to that. It's not about trying to understand everything. Just do your piece."

10. In February 2019, Marvel launched the official website of the film which emulates design from the 1990s, including HTML frames, a mix of rainbow fonts, pixelated GIFs, a hit counter, a guestbook, and a low-resolution trailer framed inside a window resembling Real Player.

11. There were concerns that Brie Larson was too young to portray a pilot. Screenwriter Nicole Perlman consulted with the U.S. Air Force, who said it was possible for someone between twenty-eight and thirty-four to become an accomplished pilot like Danvers.

12. The name "Captain Marvel" is not used in the film until the closing credits.

13. The mid-credits scene was directed by the Russo brothers, who previously directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019).

14. While Monica Rambeau is choosing a new color for Carol Danvers' suit, we can see many references: a red and yellow suit (the colors worn by DC's Captain Marvel, currently known as Shazam) a black and golden suit (the colors of Carol Danver's Ms. Marvel suit) and a white and green suit (the classic Kree armor suit colors in the comics).

15. Fury's ID showed him having only level 3 clearance at the time.

16. Fury mentions that he likes to operate in locations that start with the letter "B" because he can make them rhyme. In Captain America: the Winter Soldier, Alexander Pierce talks about a rescue mission that Fury initiated, against orders, in Bogotá.

17. Pinar Toprak signed on to compose the film's score, making her the first woman to score an MCU film.

18. When portraying the alien Skrull Talos, Ben Mendelsohn used his native Australian accent. When Talos adopts a human disguise, Mendelsohn used an American accent.

19. In the second and final bonus scene after the credits, when Goose the cat pukes up the Tesseract like a hairball on Fury's desk the CRT computer monitor and keyboard are black, vs the earlier vintage computers that were all beige. This showed the audience that the story had jumped forward several years from 1995 to somewhere in the 2000-2005 era when black or gray were the predominant colors of PC hardware, but before the transition to LCD's.

20. In the movie Carol refers to Monica as "Lieutenant Trouble". In the comics, Lieutenant Trouble (a young girl named Kit Renner) was Captain Marvel's biggest fan and later on became her friend.

21. To prepare for her role as Captain Marvel, Brie Larson trained for four hours a day over nine months, learning judo, boxing, and wrestling. She also visited Nellis Air Force Base and met with active duty airmen, including Brigadier General Jeannie Leavitt and Thunderbirds pilot Major Stephen Del Bagno.

22. When Brie Larson's casting was announced at Comic-Con, CNN ran the headline "Shazam! Brie Larson is 'Captain Marvel'," apparently not realizing that they were thinking of the wrong Captain Marvel.

23. The film was the first from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to have a female lead and it was released at on International Women's Day.

24. This was the twenty-first film to be released by Marvel Studios for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

25. Most songs featured in the movie are sung by a 90s female singer: Des'Ree [You Gotta Be], No Doubt [Just a Girl], Garbage [I'm Only Happy When It Rains], TLC [Waterfalls], Salt-N-Pepa [Whatta Man], among others.

26. When Stan Lee makes his cameo, he is seen reading the script for Kevin Smith's Mallrats(1995) and reciting the line, "Trust me true believer". As revealed on Smith's YouTube page, Stan's health was in decline and he could not muster his trademark enthusiasm so the producers looped in Lee's unused audio from Mallrats.

27. Jamie McKelvie, who designed Carol's Captain Marvel suit in the comics (used starting in 2012), praised the movie costume for closely adhering to his work.

28. The film is based on Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers, a pilot who gets super powers, but her origin incorporates the alien Captain Marvel's, Walter Lawson/Mar-Vell and Khn'nr. Both Kree and Skrull soldiers who come to Earth and decide to defend it. Furthermore, Khn'nr had his memory tampered with which causes him to suffer from an identity crisis, which Carol suffers in this film.

29. The film featured the cinematic debut of the Marvel alien race the Skrulls. In the comic books, the Skrull made their debuts in a "Fantastic Four" adventure.

30. The filmmakers cited 1990s action movies as an influence on the film's action, in keeping with the era in which the film is set.

31. Quantum physicist Spyridon Michalakis, of the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter at the California Institute of Technology, was consulted on the film.

32. This film marked the second directing pair in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the Russo Brothers (Joe Russo and Anthony Russo), this time Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. Boden was also the first female director for a Marvel movie.

33. The Skrull makeup took two hours to apply.

34. As a large portion of this film is set in space, and presumably because the Kree use similar technology; the iconography of location displays (font, coordinates) within the film when shown on screen is very similar, if not identical, to the location displays from the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

35. Maria Rambeau's pilot call sign is Photon. In the comics her daughter Monica Rambeau gained superpowers similar to Captain Marvel and briefly took on the title of Photon (She had other titles too - Captain Marvel, Pulsar, Spectrum).

36. This film is based on the "Kree-Skrull War" storyline, which was written by Roy Thomas and published in The Avengers issues 89-97 between June 1971 and March 1972. Carol Danvers only had a small role in the story, as a normal human before she received any superhuman abilities (in 1977).

37. Katheryn Winnick, Natalie Dormer, Emily Blunt, Katee Sackhoff, Yvonne Strahovski, and Rebecca Ferguson were rumored for the title role.

38. This was the first solo female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), released the year before, was led by a male-female superhero duo.

39. While in the classified file room there were a couple of boxes with the name Kevin Larosa clearly behind Carol. Kevin Larosa Sr. is the stunt aerial coordinator in the movie.

40. This was the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be released after Stan Lee's death.

41. Despite the fact that this movie takes place before, and was released before, Avengers: Endgame (2019), it was actually filmed after the latter.

42. The movie is not a traditional origin story, as the heroine already possesses her powers when the film starts.

43. Keanu Reeves was almost cast as Yon-Rogg.

44. The trailer has received about one hundred nine million views worldwide in its first twenty-four hours of release.

45. While this isn't the first movie with a female superhero, it is the first to be written primarily by women. Supergirl (1984), Catwoman (2004), Elektra (2005), and Wonder Woman (2017) were written by men. The closest was Catwoman (2004), which gave a writing credit to Theresa Rebeck. However, that movie also had three male writers credited.

46. Following a flood of negative ratings ahead of the film's release, Rotten Tomatoes has changed their policy to no longer accept reviews and ratings for a film that hasn't been released yet.

47. When Vers/Captain Marvel is looking around the bar and remembering past experiences there, she notices the arcade cabinet for a Street Fighter video game. Since the release of X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996) in 1996, one year after the year this movie is set, Capcom has published fighting video games that pit their characters against Marvel superheroes. However, Captain Marvel did not appear in any of them until Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite (2017), released in 2017.

48. In the film, Talos claims that all Skrulls are shapeshifters. However, in the comics, Talos is one of the few Skrulls who is unable to shapeshift.

49. When Brie Larson was announced at the end of the San Diego Comic-Con for Marvel's panel, she took part in a photo selfie with the cast and crew of Doctor Strange (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), and Black Panther (2018).

50. The movie was announced at a Marvel event in October 2014.

51. A nod to the original character is Captain Marvel's combat helmet she wears during her missions and in outer space. The helmet features the iconic tomahawk haircut Captain Marvel often portrayed wearing in the comics. There was, in fact, some debate regarding the haircut of Brie Larrson, with many fans claiming it is too long and not similar enough to the usual short hair haircut Captain Marvel has in the comics.

52. When Captain Marvel is in the video store, she is seen briefly holding a video cassette for The Right Stuff (1983).

53. Brie Larson (Carol Danvers) and Nelson Franklin, the medical examiner, both starred in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) (2010). Brie Larson played Envy Adams and Nelson Franklin played Comeau.

54. This film is NOT the chronological introduction of the Kree race. In Season 5 of Marvel's Agents of Shield (2013), the agents were kidnapped, taken into the future and held captive by the Kree. However, the alien corpse from which the TAHITI project sprang in earlier season was Kree.

55. The first trailer released for this movie received more than one hundred nine million global views in just twenty-four hours, making it the eleventh most viewed trailer ever.

56. This is the first Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures-distributed film not to stream on Netflix, after Disney decided to let their licensing deal with Netflix expire. Disney plans on releasing this movie on their subscription service, Disney+.

57. Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson both previously appeared in the films Farce of the Penguins (2006), Unicorn Store (2017), and Kong: Skull Island (2017).

58. Gemma Chan is the tenth actress from "Doctor Who" to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Agent Carter (2015)), Jenna Coleman and David Bradley (Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)), Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World (2013)), Tony Curran (Thor: The Dark World (2013) and (Daredevil (2015)), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019)), Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)), David Tennant (Jessica Jones (2015)) and Riann Steele (Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)).

59. Elizabeth Wood, Emily Carmichael, Rachel Talalay, Niki Caro, Lesli Linka Glatter, Lorene Scafaria, and Rebecca Thomas were on the short list to direct the movie.

60. The official trailer for the film was released on Good Morning America (1975) on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. This is the United States Air Forces' birthday. (September 18, 1947).

61. This is the second prequel of the MCU after Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

62. DeWanda Wise was set for the role of Maria Rambeau in this movie before dropping out due to scheduling conflicts.

63. Ronda Rousey had expressed interest in playing the title role.

64. Jennifer Kent and Jennifer Yuh Nelson were in the running to direct to the film.

65. Brie Larson and Clark Gregg both previously starred in the film Hoot (2006), where they played adversaries, of sorts.

66. Minn-Erva, a Kree played by Gemma Chan, is also known in the Marvel Comics universe as Doctor Minerva. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's earlier film It's Kind of a Funny Story (2010) also featured a character named Dr. Minerva.

67. Gemma Chan is the eleventh actor from the "Transformers" films (having previously played Quintessa) to appear in a Marvel superhero film, after Rachael Taylor (Maggie Madsen, Trish Walker), Hugo Weaving (Megatron, Red Skull), Kelsey Grammer (Beast, Harold Attinger), Titus Welliver (Felix Blake, James Savoy), Nicola Peltz (Tessa, Jane), Stanley Tucci (Abraham Erskine, Joshua Joyce/Merlin), Laura Haddock (Vivian Wembley, Meredith Quill), Omar Sy (Bishop, Hot Rod), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Sir Edmund Burton, Odin) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Jason Ionello, Memo).

68. Malaysian actress Raja Ilya was hinted to have a role in the movie.

69. In the comics, Yon-Rogg and Mar-Vell became enemies when Yon-Rogg betrayed Mar-Vell out of jealously and inadvertently killed his girlfriend.

70. This film features one Best Actress Oscar winner: Brie Larson, for the film, "Room".

71. CAMEO: Stan Lee: Co-creator of the original Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell), as himself reading the script on the train to Mallrats (1995) (in which he made an appearance as himself).

72. CAMEO: Kelly Sue DeConnick: Captain Marvel writer (from 2012-2015), as a bystander in the train station who looks at Marvel.

73. Lee Pace reprises his role as Ronan the Accuser in this film. However, he does not wear his iconic face paint of Xandarian blood because Captain Marvel (2019) precedes Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) wherein he first applies it.

74. Nick Fury tells Goose, "I'm trusting you not to eat me," towards the end of the movie. Shortly afterwards, Goose scratches Fury, causing him to lose his left eye as he is seen at the very end with a patch over his left eye. This is a callback to Captain America: The Winter Soldier where Fury tells Captain America, "Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye."

75. Carol Danvers' pilot call sign is "Avenger" in the film, which Nick Fury names the heroes he founds to protect the Earth. In the comics, Danvers took the call sign "Cheeseburger".

76. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson) were digitally de-aged in order for their characters to look like their younger selves, since the movie is set in the 1990s. This was the first time Marvel did de-aging for characters for an entire movie. They previously used this tactic in Ant-Man (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), but only for flashback scenes. They also did it to Tony Stark when he was showing the presentation to the college of his with his parents right before they died

77. The twist of the Skrulls turning out not to be the villains is not too far-fetched since in the comics, it is revealed that the Kree were the ones that started their war.

78. Carol's powers came from an exploding Pegasus ship engine. We later learn the engine was powered by the Tesseract, making Captain Marvel the first (chronologically) MCU hero whose powers are derived from an Infinity Stone. (The space stone is hidden within it.) Wanda Maximov/Scarlet Witch and her brother, Pietro/Quicksilver, would become the second two (the Mind stone).

79. Throughout the history of Marvel Comics, eight different characters have taken the name "Captain Marvel." This movie features three of them: Carol Danvers (the most famous version, previously known as Ms Marvel), Mar-Vell (the original version, a Kree alien and superhero) and Monica Rambeau (who briefly carried the title of Captain Marvel).

80. Samuel L. Jackson described Nick Fury at this point in time as a desk jockey with two good eyes, who has not yet become cynical towards bureaucracy.

81. In the comics Mar-Vell was a male Kree who was caught in an explosion while rescuing Carol Danvers and the explosion passed his powers onto her by imprinting his DNA onto hers. In the movie this is changed slightly by Mar-Vell being a female Kree who built the core that gave Carol her powers when it exploded. This marks the third time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the character portrayed in the film is the opposite gender of the original version from the comics. The first was the Ancient One in Doctor Strange (2016) and the second was Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).

82. Carol cannot breathe in space without the helmet, which comes out of her suit. However, when she unlocks her total power, she is able to 'breathe'/survive without a helmet, as shown in the climax of the film.

83. This was the first chronological movie appearance of Agent Phil Coulson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he was stabbed and, apparently, killed by Loki, in The Avengers (2012). He was later revealed to have survived, as explained on the television show Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013).

84. Nick Fury's full name is given as Nicholas Joseph Fury. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) he mentioned only the middle initial "J."

85. In the film, Soh-Larr (Chuku Modu) is a Kree spy investigating the Skrulls. In the comics, he was the father of the first Kree-Skrull hybrid, Dorrek Supreme.

86. The use of Nirvana's "Come As You Are" when Vers (Brie Larson) confronts The Supreme Intelligence (Annette Bening) has multiple connotations, as it discusses memories, something Vers is slowly regaining over the course of the film. The song's title coincides with The Supreme Intelligence finally revealing herself as she is, in this case the "unknown enemy" and not the "friend."

87. Goose is first among everyone in the movie who touched the Tesseract. She checked it with her paw.

88. In the film, Mar-Vell is killed by Yon-Rogg while the destruction of an experimental engine powered by the Tesseract causes Danvers to gain cosmic powers. In the comics, Danvers got her powers from a similar event, a fight between Yon-Rogg and Mar-Vell, only then Mar-Vell survived and it was an alien device that grants superpowers.

89. Dr Lawson (Mar-Vell) has blonde hair in the film, while the Dr Lawson avatar the Supreme Intelligence uses has white hair. This makes her resemble Phyla-Vell, in the comics Mar-Vell's daughter who briefly held the title of Captain Marvel, and took other names too (Quasar, Martyr).

90. The dogfight scene over the desert where Maria shoots-down Minerva appears to be a nod to Independence Day where Will Smith's Character shoots down an alien as well over what appears to be the same canyon.

91. Yon-Rogg is the 5th MCU villain to be revealed through a plot twist following Aldrich Killian from Iron Man 3(2013), The Winter SoldieBucky Barnes & Alexander Pierce from Captain America: The Winter Soldier(2014), and Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2(2017). All other villains were either building up their intentions as a villain, or were clearly evil from their first appearance.

1. According to the Russo Brothers, Avengers: Endgame could be three hours long.

2. Reportedly, Marvel Studios has twenty more films planned after this film.

3. The first official trailer for the film is the first video in YouTube history to reach over 1 million likes in less than 4 hours.

4. According to producer and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, this film is the finale of all three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

5. Chapter Ten of Phase Three in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

6. The first trailer holds the record for the highest viewed trailer in history. It received approximately 289 million views in only 24 hours.

7. This will be the 22nd film to be released by Marvel Studios for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

8. The title of the movie was announced with the first trailer that was released on December 7th, 2018.

9. The film will conclude the recurring Thanos and Infinity Stones story arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

10. The first trailer was posted by Marvel Entertainment simply as "Marvel Studios' Avengers - Official Trailer", without the film's title in the name of the video, in order to surprise the fans with the title's reveal at the end of the trailer.

11. Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd were filming Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and this film at the same time.

12. Filming officially began on August 10, 2017. It was shot after around a 3-5 week break once Avengers: Infinity War (2018) wrapped, which started filming on January 23, 2017.

13. Since his introduction in the Marvel Cinematic universe, Chris Evans has appeared as Steve Rogers/Captain America in one film a year, totaling nine times. He has starred in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Avengers (2012), an uncredited cameo in Thor: The Dark World (2013), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Captain America: Civil War (2016), a special cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). In October 2018, Evans officially announced via Twitter that this would be his final film as Captain America, and that he would no longer be involved in the franchise; he expressed great satisfaction in being involved in the franchise for almost a decade.

14. In September 2018, the Russo Brothers posted a picture on social media of the film's set, with the caption "Look Hard". This lead many to speculate and believe the title of this film was hidden somewhere inside the photo.

15. This marks composer Alan Silvestri's fourth time composing a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with his first three being Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).

16. Formerly known as "Avengers: Infinity War, Part II".

17. As Marvel will not officially own any of the film rights to the Fantastic Four and X-Men characters until 2020 after Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, none of those characters will appear in this second film, as both Infinity War films had been in production way before Fox and Disney's deal.

18. The first trailer was scheduled for December 5th, 2018 but was delayed due to former US president George Herbert Walker Bush's death. The US government declared December 5th to be a nationwide day of mourning for Bush.

19. During an event of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) in April 2017, Zoe Saldana revealed the title of the film as Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet. Following this, James Gunn announced that was not the title.

20. On September 11, 2017, the production of the movie was temporarily shut down because of Hurricane Irma.

21. Despite speculation and rumors, the Netflix Marvel characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Elektra, and The Punisher will not make an appearance in this film.

22. Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Chris Evans (Captain America/Steve Rogers) have previously starred in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) together before either of their appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Larson played the rock star Envy Adams (Scott's (Michael Cera) ex-girlfriend), and Evans played the action movie star Lucas Lee (one of Ramona's (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) Seven Evil Exes). In addition, that movie was directed and co-written by Edgar Wright, who wrote the original screenplay for Ant-Man (2015) (a character who also appears in this movie) but dropped out as director for that movie due to his creative clashes with Marvel Studios.

23. The North American release date was moved up a week earlier from May 3rd to April 26th, 2019 after the first trailer and title released on December 7th, 2018. There was much speculation that Marvel Studios would do this, as they moved "Infinity War's" release up a week as well, in order to reduce the possibility of major plot leaks from countries that released the film earlier.

24. The title "Endgame" was not only heard from a comment from Dr. Strange in Avengers: Infinity War but it was also mentioned in Avengers: Age of Ultron. In that movie, Tony Stark says that the alien invasion from the first Avengers movie is the endgame.

25. This is Robert Downey Jr.'s last contractual obligation to play Tony Stark/Iron Man for Marvel Studios. Downey has stated he plans on being involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe longer than his current contractual commitments are structured, so many are led to believe he will sign a new deal after his current one has concluded.

26. Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character, Quicksilver, was seen on set pics of this film. Hinting that he might return or will just briefly make an appearance in a flashback scene of Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

27. Clint Barton appears in Japan with the identity of Ronin in this film. This is based on the comics, where in the aftermath of the Civil War event he took up the Ronin identity during a mission to Japan.

28. Gwyneth Paltrow is rumored to suit up in her own Iron Man suit, with the name Rescue.

2018.09.14 13:52 IdgibIkirD My Emmy's 2018 predictions in Drama categories (Long)

Hi guys,

my few predictions about upcoming Emmy's. I think that there is a lot of value in betting on entertainment events because bookmakers don't have so much precise statistical models, which they use to predict sports events. Emmy's winners are choosing by Television Academy members, so we must include many factors to predict winners.
Some of them:
Personal anecdote - I have a similar job, which requires a lot of watching and reading content. The more I watch, the better is quality of my job, but still, I just can't watch and read everything I want - I'm up-to-date with crucial things and watch 'extras' only when I have time.

So now it's time for my predictions, looking for a value in this year Emmy's betting.
Odds are European and taken from European bookmaker's site.
An easy method to convert odds to % by yourself:
100/odds = chances in percent

Example (I don't know much about this year comedy series, so remember that's just an example to show how it works):
Bookmakers think that Atlanta will be chosen as Best Comedy Series 62.50% of the time (European odds 1.6; we convert this to %: 100/1.6=62.5) and Glow has only 2% of winning with European odds 51 (100/51=~2%). For some reason we think that Atlanta has a chance of winning 62.5% indeed, but... Glow is so amazing that it will win 10% of the time! If we have right, it's profitable to bet some money in Glow.

For those of you who aren't familiar with probabilities, my predictions aren't 'a sure thing'. I will explain the profitability of betting.

If our predictions are correct, and we will bet 100$ in similar situations in one hundred Emmy's events, then we will make a nice profit:
- 90 times we will lose $100
- 10 times we will win $5,100 ($100x51)

Outstanding Drama Series
The Handmaid's Tale - 1.25
Game of Thrones - 4.00
The Americans - 15
The Crown - 21
Westworld - 26
This Is Us - 34
Stranger Things - 51

The Handmaid's Tale is a huge favorite in this category (Bookmakers predictions: 80% chances of winning).
Acting in THT is really great, also it's 'anti-Trump' and feminist manifest, so for sure it has a big ideological advantage.

I still think that THT's odds in this category are much, much overvalued. I would reduce those chances, and redistribute %-points to other series.

Also, I would not bet on GoT. There's a huge chance, that GoT will be the biggest loser of this year Primetime Emmy's. This season was just a prelude before a Great Finale, and we will see A LOT of Emmy's in important categories (outstanding series, acting) for GoT next year, but not this one.

The Americans were always undervalued by the Academy, but this year we saw a finale. And it was great! So I see a little (A LITTLE) bit of value here, chances for winning are little bigger than ~7% predicted by books. It's a long shot bet basically.

The Crown - great series, but in 'craftmanship categories' (visual effects, costumes). In most important categories (best tv series, best actors/actresses) not so much.

I think that most undervalued series in this category is Westworld - 2nd season was maybe a little too complicated for a casual viewer (but Members are not casuals), but in the same time bring us much more philosophical subjects, and was even better technically than in the 1st season. Also, it's also a little bit of dystopia (like THT) and topics (AI) are very valid now. Chances of winning for WW are bigger than 4%, in my opinion. So I invest in Delos Corp. stocks in this category.

Lead actors and actresses in drama series

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Sterling K Brown (This Is Us) - 1.75
Matthew Rhys (The Americans) - 2.2
Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us) - 9.00
Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) - 21
Ed Harris (Westworld) - 26
Jason Bateman (Ozark) - 34

Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series
Elisabeth Moss (THT) - 1.33
Claire Foy (The Crown) - 5
Keri Russell (The Americans) - 7.5
Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) - 8.50
Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) - 26
Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) - 34

Biggest value I see in a bet on Keri Russell in The Americans. Elisabeth Moss in THT is fantastic, and there's a huge chance that she will win, but it's not 75% chance.

Keri Russell did a BRILLIANT, OUTSTANDING, AMAZING etc. job in last season of TA, especially in the last episode and bookmaker prediction is undervalued a lot.

Without a spoiler:
with Matthew Rhys, who is by the way Keri's life partner, in the last episode they both had many dramatic scenes in which they played great, including a phone scene in which they show a lot of emotions, only by their voices. But the most memorable was a 'one-shot' scene, without reshoot opportunity. A scene was heartbreaking and they both did a great job. This was extremely hard to shoot, so I'm guessing that producer used this info in promotion materials to the Members, and they should appreciate the craftsmanship skills of their colleagues. Also this episode is Matthew's submission to Emmy's, so we are sure that voters will see this performance.

In Leading Actor category I would bet on Jeffrey Wright, even if I'm cheering Matthew Rhys (but odds aren't OK - I think that he has a little less chance of winning than books predict). Jeffrey performance in WW was very good, and if someone can beat actors from 'This Is Us' and Matthew Rhys, that person is Jeffrey - his chances in my opinion are bigger than 5%.

Supporting Actors/Actresses in Drama Series

Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Ann Dowd (THT) - 2.2
Yvonne Strahovski (THT) - 2.7
Thandie Newton (Westworld) - 5.5
Lena Headey (GoT) - 8
Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) - 15
Alexis Bledel (THT) - 26
Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) - 51

Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
David Harbour (Stranger things) - 1.4
Peter Dinklade (Game of Thrones) - 3.5
Joseph Fiennes (THT) - 7
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (GoT) - 34
Matt Smith (The Crown) - 51
Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) - 51

In Actress category it's very hard to find some lady who really outstands the crowd... so this means that betting on underdogs should be profitable - favorites are overvalued (same as in Outstanding Drama Series category).

But if I must choose the most profitable bets, I would say that Thandie Newton can have a much bigger chance of a win, that those predicted by books. Also young Millie Bobby Brown as a winner can be a huge (but pleasant) surprise - she has much bigger chance that 2%. Millie's performance in Stranger Things was memorable and her acting skills are fantastic, especially for a someone in her age. Bet on Millie - real longshot this time, and few bucks on Thandie as a backup.

In Supporting Actors category I would bet my money on Joseph Fiennes (THT), this is my first choice. But also a few bucks (as a longshot backup) on Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (GoT). Yes - at the beginning I wrote that GoT can be the biggest loser of this year Emmy's but anyway, I think that Nikolaj has a bigger chance for an Emmy that those predicted 3%.

Odds from other categories for those of you, who know more about different genres:

Written Reviews

Jordan Mintzer - The Hollywood Reporter
It’s a totally gonzo method that mostly pays off because of all the snappy dialogue, gross-out gags and tongue-in-cheek camaraderie of the cast, with Boyd Holbrook proving to be a capable lead and Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane and Olivia Munn providing worthy, and often funny, accomplices.
Dennis Harvey - Variety
Alas, within the Black oeuvre, “The Predator” lands more between “The Last Boy Scout” and “Iron Man 3,” being a mixture of the flippant-knucklehead-machismo species with frantic comic-book action. Though there’s gore and creatures aplenty, say goodbye to any remaining horror element in this series. Now we’ve got a sort of mashup of Indiana Jones, “Jurassic Park,” and a flying-kung-fu movie, no longer scary in the least but hella loud and busy.
Chris Evangelista - Slash Film
Black stages that action in a clear, highly-entertaining way. There are spaceship chases, and crashes. There are shootouts galore. Trucks flip in blasts of fire. The Predator’s movements are swift and brutal, and Black revels in the gore. Limbs fly, guts splash, and heads roll. It sounds ghastly, but almost all of the violence is played for laughs. The Predator is no longer a scary unstoppable force. It’s a punchline. There’s also plenty of fan service – at least two classic lines from Predator are repurposed here, to (mostly) amusing effect.
Is this bent towards comedy a problem? Purists (do Predator purists even exist?) might find fault. Some may long for the franchise to return to its serious roots. After you exit the theater into the real world, the flaws of The Predator become more and more apparent. The plot doesn’t make sense. A lot of the jokes fall flat. There’s a pointless sequel set-up. But while you’re watching the movie, it’s hard not to get caught up in all the fun. Black and company are having a blast here, and it’s infectious.
Hugh Armitage - Digital Spy
The Predator is a flawed actioner, but a strong cast and some Shane Black magic give it a sparkle that has been lacking from recent attempts to revive the killer aliens. It's not Black at his best, but it's a fun diversion as long as you don't think about it too hard.
Jim Vejvoda - IGN
The Predator is, in many ways, a throwback to what made the 1987 original so beloved: it includes many of the same elements, such as the rowdy camaraderie amongst absurdly macho protagonists, a debauched wit, and a primal battle between man and beast. It’s a shame when everything splinters apart in the haphazard and shoddy-looking last half-hour, largely derailing what began as a promising entry in the wildly inconsistent franchise.
Simon Brew - Den of Geek
A bad misfire this, particularly disappointing given the pedigree of who’s behind the camera. I think I may have got that across. Save your money. Buy a Predator boxset, The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Lethal Weapon. Every single one of those is worth your time to some degree.
Matthew Leyland - Total Film
What Black’s movie really has going for it is pace. It starts with a crash, followed swiftly by a bang and vast swathes of wallop. The relentlessness doesn’t allow you any time to catch a yawn, but it’s also not too conducive to tension or suspense. Frantic editing gets the pulse racing less often than the eyeballs spraining, especially during the dark, forest-set finale. The kill count’s close to infinity, yet only a few of the deaths are truly memorable; shout-out to a nicely sticky riff on one monster’s use of invisibility.
Victor Stiff - The Playlist
While “The Predator” is no threat to surpass its predecessor in the action movie pantheon, it presents a distinct and satisfying flavor. Credit goes to Black for not playing it safe and pandering to audiences by repeating all the same beats we’ve already seen. Insanely violent, packed with off-color jokes, and of course, sentimentality, “The Predator” is one of the most enjoyable popcorn flicks hitting multiplexes this fall season.
David Ehrlich - Indiwire
Despite a handful of ingenious kills, “The Predator” doesn’t feel like a throwback that’s stitching the past into the present — it feels like a confused and desperate reboot that’s totally lost in time. For a film about celebrating the things that make people different, it’s a shame that Shane Black’s latest studio offering feels like it could have been made by committee, and that it probably was.
Emma Stefansky - Uproxx
The Predator is probably not worth your time, and I’m surprised actors of the caliber of Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn, and Boyd Holbrook even thought it was worth their time. On a surface level, the script makes a meager amount of sense, as long as you just shut up and don’t think about the plot too much. None of the characters are particularly interesting, and some are downright offensive. (More on that in a bit.) To top it all off, the digital effects, which this film relies heavily on, look only slightly better than a well-constructed video game.
Perri Nemiroff - Collider
The Predator is a disappointment for someone with their fingers crossed for a worthy Predator sequel, but where this new installment could find a home is in the outlandish alien action movie realm. That feels more like a backhanded compliment than anything, but it’s a quality that did keep me entertained from start to finish, and sent me on my way thinking it might be fun to catch it again with a group of friends and a big beer in my hand.
Katie Walsh - Nerdist
The Predator starts out strong, and there are some genuinely funny lines, but it nosedives quickly. Black loses all control over the tone and the pace, which ruins the elements that we might actually care about—story and character. It’s a damn shame to think about what could have been with The Predator.
Jake Cole - Slant
Even an act of noble sacrifice late in the film has a faintly goofy tone to it, reflective of Shane Black's streak of puckish nihilism, and that attitude makes him a perfect fit for this franchise.
Benjamin Lee - Guardian
Black populates his film with recognisable tropes and character types as well a grand throwback score, and there's a certain charm in his ability to conjure up the past without resorting to pastiche.
Brian Tallerico - RogerEbert.com
The Predator” is a fun, brutal, fighting machine that wastes no time getting down to business—not unlike its title character. It’s not big on wasted dialogue or too many attempts at meta humor, playing both like an homage/throwback film to the action of the ‘80s and something that feels new and fresh. There’s nothing pretentious or whimsical here as we so often see in films that almost parody ‘80s action instead of trying to figure out why these movies have endured in the first place. It’s easy to mimic or mock something. It’s much harder to ask why the first “Predator” captured lightning in a bottle and then try to catch it again. With a fantastic cast and razor-sharp pacing, the fact is that this is what you want from a movie called “The Predator.”
Jonathan Barkan - Dread central
The Predator is a genuinely fun movie, but it’s impossible to overlook the issues that plague nearly every moment. Poor story choices and strange, if not outright silly, character decisions result in an experience that will ultimately leave audiences feeling a great amount of “meh”.

2018.07.27 16:58 Turf_Wind_and_Fire Here's a random pitch for my idea of what the FF could look like in the MCU.

Ok so I don't have a big plot written up, just some random jumbled thoughts, so I figured I'd just do this in list format if that's cool.
Ok almost done! I have a quick cast list and my quick reasoning I think these people should play certain characters:
Lastly, the end credit sequence would be Doom reappearing in Latveria via a Dr. Strange portal that he has made (it shouldn’t be as clean as when Strange does it, to show that Doom is just now mastering how to handle magic). The denizens of Latveria all kneel before him and voila.
So what do you think?!
Edit: just a few small details
Edit #2: Hey everyone! Thanks so much for the positive response. Here's some clips of the cast I thought would best exemplify them: * Bryan Dechart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDqeFQKOyrM * Yvonne Strahovski: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKylqNx-fB8 * Joe Keery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkUsPdoh_fg * Jensen Ackles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCE4ByE_mHc

2017.05.11 16:13 swiftwings88 [Spoilers All] The 10 Errors that Doomed Andromeda to Mediocrity

With rumors swirling that Mass Effect is being put on the shelf so Bioware can focus on its new IP, codenamed Dylan, and then presumably Dragon Age 4, it seems a reasonable enough time to do a post-mortem of sorts on Mass Effect Andromeda. How did one of the most anticipated sequels ever fall so flat? These are, I think, the 10 issues that doomed the game to mediocrity.
---The Game Was Written Backwards
A theme in this list is that repeatedly Bioware took routes that cut corners, rushed things, or attempted to please everyone. It starts here. The whole draw of going to a new galaxy was the idea of being dropped into the middle of a whole new galaxy's laps in media res. Imagine if an extra-galactic colonization effort had popped up in the Milky Way right after ME1 ended (sans Reapers) and the chaos that would have caused. Bioware should have written an entire new galaxy filled with interesting places and species and then dropped the Initiative into the middle of it. Instead they created the Initiative and wrote a story for it. Rather than, "what is the Intiative going to do to Andromeda?" they asked "what will Andromeda do to the Initiative?" They wrote it backwards.
---Lack of Epic Music
The music in Andromeda has its moments, but it isn't memorable or epic and it doesn't punctuate dramatic moments (though to be fair there aren't many). ME3 had its flaws but damn music wasn't one of them. Leaving Earth, Rannoch, I'm Proud of You, An End Once and For All, Prothean Beacon, the whole soundtrack is epic and the music rises to meet key moments. Other Bioware games have nailed it to. Vigil in ME1, Dark Solas theme in Inquisition, The Arishok theme in DA2. These are memorable songs and music does so much to make a game feel epic. We had none of that here.
---The Open World
I don't know why Bioware decided to depart from its semi-linear design that had served it so well in KOTOR, Jade Empire, DA:O, DA2, and the original Mass Effect trilogy. But the open world in Andromeda (and to a lesser extent in Inquisition) adds nothing and makes the good stuff worse. There's nothing to find in the world so they feel empty. The open world needlessly pads play time and it kills pacing. The missions are all disconnected because they span multiple worlds and overall, it just feels like a ton of design went into a mechanic that hurts the game.
---Your Squadmates have no major flaws and no motivations
This is huge. The squadmates are all boring and flat. Bioware companions often have major personality flaws that they must continually grapple with or conquer (i.e. they are dynamic) and/or (and its usually "and") they have a major personal goal. Here, Peebee is probably the only companion with a well-defined arc. She doesn't let people get close. She doesn't have a well defined goal though. But let's look at Vetra and Liam.
Liam has authority issues. He has no personal goals other than "to help others" generally. He's a less interesting James Vega whose personal conflict had to do with the burdens of command, with living with a tough call.
Vetra is a less interesting Miranda. She also struggles with self-doubt, but it never resolves in a meaningful way. Miranda's goal is in protecting her sister, a goal that Vetra shares, but that Miranda resolves far more meaningfully in ME2 and ME3. What is Vetra's flaw? She doesn't have one. She plies in the underworld, but isn't immoral. She is righteous and friendly and helpful.
None of the companions are selfish. That's dull! It's boring. Isabela can betray you in DA2. So can Anders. You fight Sten in Origins over the best course of action. You can kill Wrex. You can kick Dorian out of the Inquisition.
This was a big one. They wanted everyone to like all the squadmates; for everyone to be funny and likeable. But they're all boring.
---Weak Character Creator
This got a lot of press. Inquisition's character creator was pretty good and within a few weeks of release we were seeing some incredible creations. It made people really excited for Andromeda's CC because we all expected at least what Inquisition did plus more. If they had ported over the same CC, added in like 20 new hairstyles, given us a true color palette for hair choices and expanded everything else by a little bit it would have been a slam dunk. Instead we got 9 presets, most of which were not great. We had little ability to change most features, could not change nose or ear shape, could not change lip or eye shape. It was worse than ME1 where we just a list of predesigned assets. Just awful.
---Few Meaningful Decisions
Other than killing Aroane (Drack), exiling Spender (also Drack), Sloane or Reyes, telling the truth to the Asari (Cora), military or science outpost, Gil or Kallo, shooting Aksuul, preserving the Angaran AI, and shooting what's her face in Peebee's loyalty mission, I cannot think of literally any other major choices. That's nine. NINE in a 60 hour game. Everything else is funnelled. No matter what you say, the end result in probably 97% of all interactions is the same.
---Few Meaningful Choices+No Classes+Open World=Bad Replay Value
What is the drive for me to power through another playthrough of this game? My first took me 60 hours to do. I made it 20 hours into a second playthrough and started playing MLB the Show. Because the game is so padded, the romances take forever to complete. Because I can play as any class I want, there's no drive for me to try a new run through to try the game with new powers. Because none of the choices really make a difference and because there are so few, I feel like I've already seen everything.
I will be the first to admit that I have logged a ton of time in ME3 multiplayer. It is outstanding and I didn't think it would be done well. The major issues most people have with ME3 are Kei Leng, Cerberus in general, and the ending. Pick your order. But those aren't brutal complaints and the game is still chock full of amazing moments. Moreover, it doesn't seem as though the attention to multiplayer hurt the development of the main game. It does here. The same studio did the single player and multiplayer. EA loves the multiplayer because Microsoft and Sony charge for online, and because they get to include those sweet micro-transactions. But that's not what made Bioware famous. MP in ME3 was a fun extra. In MEA it feels like it took away from the main game.
---No Marketing
It was a sign to me that the game was in trouble when they studio had so little to show in December (including the awful "grab gun" scene) and didn't have a hard release date even then. The game was mere months away. In the weeks before launch I saw very little of what most major games see: tons of youtube ads, banner ads on other sites, posters at bus stops, and at Walmart/Target other big stores, even TV spots. We saw all of this with Inquisition. But here the lack of advertisement hurt even more because all most casual fans saw was the lack luster reviews.
---Little Big Name Voice Acting Talent
In ME1 we had Keith Davids, Lance Henriksen, Seth Green, Raphael Sbarge, and Jennifer Hale. In ME2 we added Martin Sheen, Yvonne Strahovski, Michael Dorn, Tricia Helfer, Carrie Ann Moss, and Michael Hogan. These are all A list voice actors, some are B and even A list TV and film actors. Moreover, they are recognizable voices that help drive interest and sales. Andromeda had about 5 pages of lines for Clancy Brown. There are definitely some others, but let's be honest, there was a huge drop off in talent in the voice room from the original trilogy to here. I'm not saying the voice acting in MEA is bad, but big names are big for a reason, they're talented and they can elevate dialogue. The decision was clearly made to save costs on talent and while the voice acting isn't bad, it isn't as good as in the original trilogy by a long shot.
Thanks for reading and feel free to respond below. I'm sure there are disagreements with my list and feel free to add other issues you saw.
There are others I didn't list like the static pose most characters took while talking because they had so few hand gestures, or the weak animations or lip syncing in general, or the fact that I think multiplayer took away from the main game, but these are the main ones.
I am very concerned for the future of my favorite game series and hope they get it turned around. If they do, fixing these issues would be a big start.

2016.12.26 01:30 ireactions Season 1: When does Sarah fall for Chuck?

I know Sarah says in Season 3 that she fell for Chuck in the pilot on their first date. But in terms of what's actually onscreen, what are your favourite Season 1 moments of Sarah's feelings for Chuck?
The earliest I've seen is Season 1's fifth episode, "Sizzling Shrimp" in which Chuck, Casey and Sarah are on a covert stakeout outside a Chinese restaurant when an unknown figure approaches the car. Sarah and Casey raise their weapons. The figure turns out to be a delivery man bringing Chinese food Chuck ordered. Casey snaps at Chuck for drawing attention to them -- and Sarah is seen to cast a glowingly amused and entertained smile in Chuck's direction and then she looks away to make sure he doesn't see it. She is further amused when Chuck responds to Casey, saying he used an alias to order dinner.
I don't know if this was the character or if Yvonne Strahovski just found the scene extremely funny and dropped character for a few seconds, but it's really cute in hindsight.
There's also "Chuck vs. the Truth" when Chuck, dosed with truth serum, tells Sarah she's really pretty and Sarah is positively giddy at hearing that.
It also stood out to me that in "Imported Salami," Sarah is fuming over Chuck breaking up with her but Yvonne plays it so that it could be irritation that bodyguarding Chuck just got tougher now that she has to surveil him from the car -- but the morning after Chuck's disastrous date with Lou, Sarah visits Chuck to apologize and yet, Yvonne plays Sarah as beamingly happy that things aren't working out between Lou and Chuck.
I guess Sarah kissing Chuck at the end of this episode would also confirm her feelings.
